Generative AI (GenAI) Usage – Journal of Food and Pharmaceutical Sciences

Authors

Declaration of the (co)authorship of generative AI is not permissible in the Journal of Food and Pharmaceutical Sciences (JFPS), although the journal recognizes the rapid development of this technology as a useful tool to support the efficiency of scientific writing. Assistive AI tools may be used to improve language, grammar, structure, and to help generate references, text, images, or other content forms.

In any case, the Journal of Food and Pharmaceutical Sciences requires authors to declare their use of generative AI by adding a statement in the Acknowledgements section of the manuscript before submission. The following text should be used:

During the preparation of this work, the author(s) used [AI TOOL / SERVICE] in order to [REASON]. The author(s) declare that they reviewed and edited the final output as needed and take full responsibility for the content of the published article.

Authors should remember that all responsibility for the improper use of AI tools/services lies with the authors. They must remain aware of potential risks such as the generation of factually incorrect information or references, plagiarism, fabrication, and/or biases, and ensure careful review and editing of all outputs.

The Journal of Food and Pharmaceutical Sciences will not reject submissions solely due to a disclosed use of generative AI. However, if the Editor detects undisclosed use of AI, or any inappropriate use such as generation of incorrect content, plagiarism, or improper attribution to prior sources, the Editor reserves the right to reject the submission at any stage during the publishing process.

Reviewers

Reviewers are advised not to use generative artificial intelligence or AI-assisted technologies when evaluating a manuscript, as peer review requires critical thinking and original judgment that cannot be delegated to such tools. AI tools also carry the risk of producing inaccurate, incomplete, or biased assessments. The reviewer is solely responsible for the content of the review report.
