Registration and login are required to submit items online and to check the status of current submissions.

 

Author Guidelines

The Editorial Board of Jurnal Filsafat welcomes article submissions in accordance with the following guidelines:  

  1. Articles have not been published or accepted for publication, or are being considered for publication elsewhere. 
  2. Types of articles suitable for publication include the following; research reports, conceptual ideas, studies, and theory applications in the field of philosophy.
  3. Articles are written in Indonesian or English using academic language along with standard academic writing structure and composition. Manuscripts are typed 1 spaced in a B5 sized-paper (approx. 18 x 25 cm), between 5000 – 8000 words including references, pictures, and tables. The margin of the manuscript are 3 cm for left and top side; and 2 cm for right and bottom side.
  4. Article should be in form of essay which includes:
  • Title (author should perform the philosophical perspectives of the manuscript).
  • Author’s name (without academic degree) with institution’s name and an e-mail address.
  • Abstract in Indonesian and English (150-200 words for each) which includes: (1) the main question; (2) objectives; (3) methods and frame work; and (4) the main result.
  • Key words in English and Indonesian (maximum 5 words),
  • Introduction section (without subsection, 2-3 pages) which includes background of your research and your current research position among other research on related themes; methods, and literature review, theoretical construct of the research. The introduction section  ends with an emphasis on items to be discussed. 
  • Discussion section, which includes the analysis and synthesis of data. You may discuss every aspect of the issue one by one in this section. It is necessary to build argument and to provide original data discussed and compared to research and works of other scholars. It is possible to add sections as needed. In this section, author should point out the novelty of the manuscript and give arguments why it is important to be discussed.
  • Conclusion must states: (1) answers of the research questions, (2) main arguments, and (3) critical comprehention about main issues being discussed.
  • References should include primary texts and supporting texts and should show current publication in the relevant area. References should be accessible by everyone.

  2. Jurnal Filsafat uses in-text citation format (not footnotes nor endnotes). The guideline for in-text citation is provided in the following link: https://apastyle.apa.org/style-grammar-guidelines/citations/basic-principles/author-date
  • The format of the author element of the in-text citation changes depending on the number of authors and is abbreviated in some cases.
  • For a work with one or two authors, include the author name(s) in every citation.
  • -One author: Parenthetical citation: (Luna, 2020); Narrative Citation: Luna (2020). 
  • -Two authors: Parenthetical citation: (Salas & D’Agostino, 2020); Narrative Citation: Salas and D’Agostino (2020)
  • For a work with three or more authors, include the name of only the first author plus “et al.” in every citation (even the first citation). For example: (Martin et al., 2020) or Martin et al. (2020).
  1. Bibliography should appear at the end of the article and includes only literatures actually cited in the manuscripts. References are ordered alphabetically and chronologically.  Jurnal Filsafat uses modified-APA Style citation and bibliography 6th edition. APA Style citation and bibliography guideline can be find in the following link https://apastyle.apa.org/style-grammar-guidelines/references/examples.  
  2. It’s highly recommended for the authors to use the references management software, in this case Mendeley. Herewith are some of the APA-based references format structure:

The manuscript text must be submitted to Jurnal Filsafat by following procedure:

  1. Submitting document should be done by Online Submission System in the Jurnal Filsafat e-journal portal HERE.
  2. First, the author should register as an author or reviewer (checking role as author or reviewer) in the “Register” or HERE.
  3. After registration completed, log in as an author, click in “New Submission”. The article submission stage consists of five stages:  (1). Start, (2). Upload Submission, (3). Enter Metadata, (4). Upload Supplementary Files, (5). Confirmation.
  4. In the “Start” column, choose Journal Section (Article), check all the checklists.
  5. In the “Upload Submission” Columns, upload the manuscript files at Microsoft Word format in this column.
  6. In the “Enter Metadata” columns, fill out all the author data and affiliation. Following the manuscript title, abstract and indexing keywords.
  7. In the “Confirmation” columns, if all the data that you enter were right, then click “Finish Submission”.
  8. If the author has difficulties in the submitting process via online system, please contact Jurnal Filsafat Editorial team at jurnal-wisdom@ugm.ac.id.
  9. Authors will be sent notifications of the receipt of manuscripts and editorial decisions (whether the articles are accepted or not) by e-mail. Manuscripts that are not published will not be returned to the authors. 

 

Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.

  1. The submission has not been previously published, nor is it before another journal for consideration (or an explanation has been provided in Comments to the Editor).
  2. The submission file is in Microsoft Word, RTF, or WordPerfect document file format.
  3. Where available, URLs for the references have been provided.
  4. The text is single-spaced; uses a 12-point font; employs italics, rather than underlining (except with URL addresses); and all illustrations, figures, and tables are placed within the text at the appropriate points, rather than at the end.
  5. The text adheres to the stylistic and bibliographic requirements outlined in the Author Guidelines, which is found in About the Journal.
  6. If submitting to a peer-reviewed section of the journal, the instructions in Ensuring a Blind Review have been followed.
