Focus and Scope

Journal of Tropical Biodiversity and Biotechnology (JTBB) is an open-access, peer-reviewed journal dedicated to publishing novel research on advancing tropical biology studies in the Southeast Asia Region.  It publishes original research articles, short communications, and reviews on the following subjects:

  1. Studies on Biodiversity
  • Descriptive and analytical studies of genetic, species, and community diversity
  • Novel methods and application of bioinformatics in studying biodiversity
  • Studies on Ethnobiology
  1. Ecological Studies

  • Tropical ecology and conservation studies
  • Studies on behavioral biology
  1. Biotechnology

  • Sustainable use of tropical biodiversity
  • Application of bioinformatics in biotechnology

Manuscripts that are not under the subjects will not be considered to be published. We also discourage manuscripts written by a single author.

Publication Frequency

Journal of Tropical Biodiversity and Biotechnology (JTBB) using a continuous publication system.  This means once the article has finished all of the editing and layout processes, it will be published immediately without waiting for other articles to complete the full issue. Furthermore, the full issue will be built gradually along with the other articles being added until the issue contains 20 articles. JTBB will still publish four issues per annum (March, June, September, and December) and after every three months, the article will be placed in the next open issue.

Open Access Policy

This journal provides immediate open access to its content on the principle that making research freely available to the public supports a greater global exchange of knowledge.

Audience

This journal is widely distributed to Biology Departments and Biology related departments of national and private universities as well as research institutes in Indonesia. Moreover, the online version of this journal can be accessed free of charge internationally and indexed in DOAJ, EBSCO, and Scopus.

Digital Archiving

This journal utilizes the PKP Preservation Network system to create a distributed archiving system among participating libraries and permits those libraries to create permanent archives of the journal for purposes of preservation and restoration.

Copyright of published articles in the Journal of Tropical Biodiversity and Biotechnology (JTBB) is held by the journal under Creative Commons Attribution (CC-BY-SA) copyright. The article copyright is transferred to the journal through the Copyright Transfer Agreement form, which is signed by the author upon publication. The journal lets others distribute and copy the article, create extracts, abstracts, and other revised versions, adaptations, or derivative works of or from an article (such as a translation), include in a collective work (such as an anthology), text or data mine the article, even for commercial purposes, as long as following CC BY-SA terms.

Permissions:

Authors wishing to include figures, tables, or text passages that have already been published elsewhere and by other authors are required to obtain permission from the copyright owner(s) for both the print and online format and to include evidence that such permission has been granted when submitting their papers. Any material received without such evidence will be assumed to originate of one of the authors.

Author Repository Policy:

The Journal of Tropical Biodiversity and Biotechnology allows authors to deposit version of their published article in institutional, subject-based, or other repositories of their choice, including personal websites. Authors are encouraged to provide a link to the official published version in this journal when depositing their work.

Ethical matters:

Experiments with animals or involving human patients must have had prior approval from the appropriate ethics committee. A statement to this effect should be provided within the text at the appropriate place. Experiments involving plants or microorganisms taken from countries other than the authors’ own must have had the correct authorization for this exportation.
