This statement accounts for identification of and dealing with allegations of research misconduct, including plagiarism, citation manipulation, and data fabrication or falsification. In handling the allegation, Jurnal Ilmu Kehutanan (JIK) follows practice guidelines for publication as in COPE’s Best (or equivalent).

All manuscripts submitted to JIK must be free from plagiarism contents. All authors are suggested to use plagiarism detection software for the similarity checking. Editors check the plagiarism detection of articles in this journal using iThenticate software. The acceptable maximum similarity index is 25% in total, with a maximum of 3% from each source, excluding quotes and bibliography. During submission, authors are also required to submit a statement of plagiarism-free using this form.

In a manuscript, citing article(s) should have scientific merit. Self-citation and request for citations can be acceptable, for example, when reviewing the literature in small field of study. Manipulative citation, such as excessive self-citation of an authors’ own work, excessive citation between journals in a coordinated manner, should be avoided. JIK’s publisher might notify the author’s institution of this violation in publication ethics.

If data fabrication of falsification is identified, JIK will investigate suspected fraud by writing to the authors for clarification. Authors who use artificial intelligence (AI) must disclose the use of AI tools in the Methods of the manuscript in detail. AI tools cannot be listed as an author. Furthermore, the ethical use of AI in research publications should refer to the comprehensive guidelines provided by The Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE).
