Author Guidelines

PRINCIPLES FOR AUTHOR

  1. Intellectual Contribution: Authors are expected to submit manuscripts that offer intellectual contributions to ideas, concepts, or theories related to Javanese language, literature, and cultural studies.
  2. Copyright Ownership: Authors must declare that the submitted manuscript is original and their own intellectual property, whether individually or collectively authored. For co-authored manuscripts, the roles of the first author, corresponding author, and subsequent authors must be clearly indicated based on their contributions.
  3. Ethical Manuscript Submission: Authors must confirm that the manuscript has not been previously published and is not currently under consideration by another journal. Simultaneous submission to multiple journals is considered unethical.
  4. Public Responsibility: Authors are publicly accountable for the content of their published manuscript and are required to disclose any sources of funding that supported their work.
  5. Conflict of Interest Disclosure: Any potential conflicts of interest related to the writing or submission process must be clearly disclosed.
  6. Post-Submission Contact: Authors are encouraged to contact the Editor-in-Chief if they discover any errors in the article after submission.


THINGS TO DO: AUTHOR

  1. The authorship should balance intellectual contributions to the conception, design, analysis, and writing of the manuscript against other work in relation to the research. If there is no task that can reasonably be attributed to a particular individual, this individual should not be credited with the authorship.
  2. Authors must declare that the work reported is their own and that they are the copyright owner (or else have obtained the copyright owner's permission).
  3. Authors must declare that the submitted article and its essential content have not previously been published and are not being considered for publication elsewhere.
  4. The author should avoid disputes over attribution of academic credit. Therefore, it is helpful to decide early on who will be credited as corresponding author, contributors, and who will be acknowledged.
  5. Authors must take public responsibility for the content of their paper. It is unethical to submit a manuscript to more than one journal concurrently.
  6. Any conflict of interest must be clearly stated.
  7. Authors must acknowledge the data sources of their research and should acknowledge financial support sources to the research if any.
  8. All errors discovered in the manuscript after submission must be quickly communicated to the Editor.
  9. Authors should state that the papers they submit have been approved by the relevant research ethics committee or institutional review board. If human participants were involved, manuscripts must be accompanied by a statement that the participants had signed informed consent forms.
  10. Authors should submit a short description of all contributions to their manuscript. Each author's contribution should be described in brief. Authors of research papers should state whether they had complete access to the study data that support the publication. Contributors who do not qualify as authors should also be listed and their particular contribution described. This information should appear as an acknowledgment.
  11. Authors should include information about their research fundings in their manuscripts.
  12. Authors have a right to appeal editorial decisions.


MANUSCRIPT GUIDELINES

  1. Format and Length: Manuscripts must be written in A4 size format, 1.0 line spacing, using Cambria font, and follow the Jurnal Arnawatemplate. The manuscript should be between 5,000 and 8,000 words, including references and appendices.
  2. Softcopy Submission: Manuscripts must be submitted as a softcopy in .doc or .docx format via the Arnawa journal website.
  3. Image Formatting: If the manuscript includes images or photographs, authors are requested to submit image files with a resolution of 72 dpi and dimensions of 800 x 600 pixels.


ARTICLE STRUCTURE

  1. Concise and Clear Title: The title should be brief and to the point.
  2. Author Identity: Author names, affiliations, and other identifying information should not appear in the body of the manuscript.
  3. Abstract and Keywords: Abstracts must be provided in both Indonesian and English (150–300 words each), along with up to 5 keywords in both languages.
  4. Manuscript Body: The main body of the manuscript should follow this structure: Introduction; Results and Discussion; Conclusion.
  5. References: References must follow the APA (American Psychological Association) style. Use of reference management tools such as Zotero or Mendeley is strongly recommended.

BOOK/DISERTATION REVIEW SUBMISSION

Authors who wish to submit a book or dissertation review to Jurnal Arnawa must follow these specific guidelines:

  1. Scope and Relevance
    Reviews must evaluate books or dissertations related to Javanese language, literature, or cultural studies. The reviewed work should have been published within the last five years.
  2. Length and Format
    - The review should be approximately 3,000 words.
    - Format using A4 size, 1.0 line spacing, Cambria font, and follow the Jurnal Arnawa template.
  3. Book/Dissertation Information
    Each review must include the following details:
    • Author’s name as stated on the book/dissertation.
    • Full title, edition (if applicable), year of publication, publisher, place of publication, number of pages (use Roman numerals where relevant), ISBN, price, and cover type.
    • A scanned image of the book cover (minimum 1000 px).
    • A brief identity of the reviewer (name, affiliation, email).
  4. Review Content Must Include:
    • The topic and its relevance to research in Javanese studies.
    • Identification of key themes, questions, methodology, and findings.
    • Evaluation of the contribution to the field.
    • The book/dissertation’s strengths and weaknesses.
    • Constructive suggestions or critical reflections if needed.
  5. Citation Style
    Any direct citation from the book/dissertation should follow in-text citation format: (Author, Year, Page). Use APA style for any additional references.
  6. Submission Format
    The review must be submitted in .doc or .docx format via the Arnawa journal website.
