The Volume 1, Issue 2, of the South East Asian Journal of Advanced Law and Governance (SEAJ ALGOV) intends to discuss Public Law and the Risk of Democratic Regression. The topic is consciously chosen based on the contemplation of many scholars' concern that the quality of Indonesian democracy has been declining. The social context also relevant as Indonesia has just made the President transition. Thus the editor chose the theme with the intention that scholars submit their papers to shed light on the role of public law and society to prevent the regression. It is expected that the discussion will inspire not only Indonesia but also any other nations facing similar situations.
As can be seen, the articles in this issue delve into that topic in particular contexts, such as the academic environment, law-making processes, executive power, and the role of the judiciary in democratic decline. Besides, the editorial board also welcomes articles from outside Indonesia (China) that discusses labour law. The board is also pleased to receive articles from not only lawyers but also social scientists, such as sociologists and public administration scholars. The above-mentioned situation is in line with the aim of the journal in providing interdisciplinary issues on law and governance on a broader context.
It is hoped that the journal will continue receiving robust articles from scholars in the region and expanding the diverse discussion beyond Indonesia. We thus invite the readers concern on any jurisdiction South-east Asia to submit their articles to the next issue at SEAJ ALGOV (Vol 2, Issue 1 (2025)).
