The General Election Committee (KPU) officially declared Prabowo Subianto and Gibran Rakabuming Raka as President and Vice President of the Republic of Indonesia on 24 April 2024. They will be inaugurated on 20 October 2024. It is believed that they have a heavy task ahead of them to lead the country, as evidenced by the global economic downturn and accusations of a decline in the nation's quality of democracy.  

This SEAJ ALGov issue (Volume 2, Issue 1) attempts to provide food for thought for the readers on what has happened about the recent social and legal situation before the transitional era; what problems may be faced by Prabowo that are inherited from the Previous (Joko Widodo) administration.

The first article underlines the critical review of Indonesia's Health Law. The second article discusses an interesting case involving the licensing law and indigenous people, as well as the problematic judicial protection on the matter. The third article elaborates on data protection norms in Indonesia.

An interesting article about the threats to meritocracy and the neutrality of the state civil apparatus closes the discussion provided in this issue. This situation has been problematic during Joko Widodo's administration and may continue in Prabowo's presidency.
