Abstract

Teknologi Internet of Things merupakan teknologi transfer informasi melalui jaringan internet. Penerapan teknologi IoT untuk mendukung terciptanya smart library dilakukan untuk meningkatkan operasional perpustakaan agar lebih mudah, efektif, efisien, menghemat waktu, tenaga, dan mempercepat transaksi layanan. IoT merupakan bagian yang tidak dapat dipisahkan dari konsep smart library. Penelitian ini untuk mendeskripsikan manfaat dari penerapan teknologi IoT pada unit pendukung yaitu pengelolaan loker yang terintegrasi ke dalam SIPUS (Sistem Informasi Perpustakaan) dengan menggunakan RFID atau qr code di perpustakaan UGM. Artikel ini menggunakan metode penelitian kajian literatur. Terciptanya atmosfer smart library dengan menerapkan teknologi IoT pada pengelolaan loker yang terintegarasi sangatlah penting dilakukan, karena memberi manfaat untuk efisiensi pengelolaan loker, menghemat waktu, membuat pemustaka nyaman, dan ada keamanan serta kontrol. Namun selain bermanfaat penerapan IOT di perpustakaan juga berdampak pada upaya dalam pemeliharaan teknologi, pelatihan staf, ketergantungan pada teknologi, perlindungan data, serta biaya investasi.
