Middle Eastern Culture & Religion Issues (MECRI) is an open-access, peer-reviewed journal published by the Department of Intercultural Studies, Faculty of Cultural Sciences, Universitas Gadjah Mada. MECRI publishes high-quality research articles, case studies, literature reviews, and book reviews on social, political, cultural, literary, linguistic, and religious issues related to Middle Eastern Studies. Beginning with Volume 5, Number 1 (2026), MECRI introduces a renewed appearance and publishes all articles entirely in either English or Arabic to strengthen its international reach and scholarly impact.
