Dinamika pendidikan vokasi pembelajaran praktikum konservasi arsip di masa pandemi

Abstract

Introduction. The COVID-19 pandemic has forced face-to-face learning activities to change into distance learning. This paper discusses the impact of the pandemic on the learning process in the hands-on archives conservation practicum at the Archives Preservation Laboratory, Vocational School, Universitas Gadjah Mada. This paper also analyzes several perspectives across memory institutions as well as the potential and challenges through the choice of methods used to deliver the practical skills in distance learning.

Data Collection Method. Field observations and interviews’ data were analysed using descriptive analytics approach and contrasted with findings in the literature reviews to draw conclusions.

Results and Discussion. The dimensions of experience and tactile skills from hands-on conservation practice require specific equipments and laboratory which cannot be fully replaced in online classes. However, the pandemic has urged the university to arrange new learning methods for laboratory-based practicum.

Conclusion. Although distance learning prompts plenty opportunities, it remains a challenge to replace the face-to-face model of conservation practicum. There is a great urgency for the best model and media to ensure effective learning which addresses the limitations during a pandemic. It is recommended that universities collaborate with stakeholders and Libraries, Archives and Museums (LAM) institutions to improve the current online practicum scheme.

Widiatmoko Adi Putranto bekerja sebagai staf pengajar di program studi Pengelolaan Arsip dan Rekaman Informasi, Universitas Gadjah Mada, Indonesia. Pada tahun 2014, ia menerima beasiswa Australia Awards untuk menempuh pendidikan Master of Library and Information Management di University of South Australia. Berbagai kegiatan yang diikutinya selama di Australia termasuk pelatihan konservasi buku di Book Conservation Service dan bekerja di unit arsip the Greater Metropolitan Cemeteries Trusts di Melbourne. Selain membantu mengelola Laboratorium Preservasi Arsip di Sekolah Vokasi UGM, proyek lepasnya termasuk berperan menjadi koordinator tim arsip untuk proses restorasi dan digitalisasi di Museum Gula De Tjolomadoe, Solo, Jawa Tengah. Saat naskah ini dalam proses revisi, ia memulai pendidikan Doktor pada bidang Library Science di Kyushu University dengan beasiswa Monbukagakusho. Fokus risetnya berkutat pada preservasi dan konservasi, akses dan konten terbuka, serta arsip digital.

Regina Dwi Shalsa Mayzana, Laboratorium Preservasi Arsip, Sekolah Vokasi, Universitas Gadjah Mada

Regina Dwi Shalsa Mayzana merupakan mahasiswa Alih Program di program studi Pengelolaan Arsip dan Rekaman Informasi, Universitas Gadjah Mada, Indonesia. Sejak 2019, ia bekerja sebagai asisten laboratorium di Laboratorium Preservasi Arsip di program studi yang sama. Setelah menyelesaikan dua bulan magang di Museum Nasional Indonesia sebagai bagian dari Tugas Akhirnya yang membahas digitisasi koleksi di institusi yang sama, ia lulus dari program studi D3 Kearsipan, Universitas Gadjah Mada pada Agustus 2021. Pengalamannya termasuk bekerja sebagai arsiparis untuk proyek katalogisasi rempah dan bahan pangan tradisional yang dilakukan oleh Ranah Bhumi, institusi lingkungan di Yogyakarta.

Miftakhurokhimah Febri Ardani, Pusat Preservasi Bahan Pustaka, Perpustakaan Nasional Republik Indonesia

Miftakhurokhimah Febri Ardani bekerja sebagai Pegawai Negeri Sipil (PNS) di Pusat Preservasi Bahan Pustaka, Perpustakaan Nasional Republik Indonesia. Sebelumnya, ia bekerja sebagai asisten peneliti di Laboratorium Preservasi Arsip, Sekolah Vokasi, Universitas Gadjah Mada. Tugas Akhirnya untuk mendapatkan gelar Ahli Madya di bidang Kearsipan dari Universitas Gadjah Mada pada tahun 2019 mengambil fokus preservasi arsip. Berbagai kegiatan yang diikutinya selama menjadi mahasiswa termasuk sejumlah penelitian lapangan Universitas Gadjah Mada di berbagai daerah di Indonesia dan magang di Dinas Perpustakaan dan Arsip Kulon Progo, Yogyakarta.
