Abstract

Level of cadmium and kidney function reviewed from ureum rate and kreatinin of exhaust welding workers

Purpose

This research aimed to analyze the correlation between levels of cadmium level in blood and decreasing kidney function reviewed from ureum and creatinine levels in exhaust welders in Purbalingga Lor.

Method

This research used a cross-sectional design. Samples were counted by using random sampling formula and there were 36 respondents chosen. 32 respondents participated in this research.

Results

There was no correlation between the outside variables (age, smoking habit, self higienity, working period, the number of working hours per week, use of the mask) and the independent variable (levels of cadmium). There was no correlation between independent variable (levels of cadmium) and dependent variables (levels of ureum and creatinine) on exhaust welders in Purbalingga Lor.

Conclusion

This study contributes to the knowledge that levels of cadmium in the blood have no correlation on the levels of ureum and creatinine in kidneys of exhaust welding workers. This study recommends to develop research on other types of heavy metals that may potentially interfere with the health of welding workers.
