Pengalaman dan Need Assessment Training Manajemen pada Dokter yang Bertugas di Daerah Tertinggal di Indonesia

Abstract


Latar belakang: Dokter yang bertugas di daerah tertinggal harus mampu bekerja dengan berbagai kondisi dan keterbatasan. Kondisi ini menuntut dokter memiliki kompetensi manajemen. Kompetensi manajemen dapat diperoleh melalui training. Tujuan: Penelitian ini mengidentifikasi pengalaman dan need assessment terkait training manajemen pada dokter di daerah tertinggal. Metode: mixed method dengan strategi eksploratoris sekuensial. Metode kualitatif dilakukan melalui wawancara mendalam pada 12 orang dokter umum pada 4 kabupaten di Provinsi Nusa Tenggara Barat, sementara metode kuantitatif dilakukan menggunakan kuesioner pada 167 dokter umum di Provinsi Sumatera Barat, Banten, Jawa Timur, Kalimantan Barat, Sulawesi Tenggara, Nusa Tenggara Barat, Papua Barat dan Papua. Hasil: Dokter di daerah tertinggal umumnya menjalankan tugas secara learning by doing. Adanya training manajemen menjadi salah satu media pembelajaran yang dapat menambah pengetahuan dan keterampilan manajemen. Pengalaman training manajemen bermanfaat karena dapat meningkatkan kompetensi manajemen sehingga berdampak pada pencapaian kinerja, keputusan dan kebijakan yang diambil di tempat kerja. Sebanyak 74/167 responden (44.3%) belum pernah mengikuti training manajemen, namun sebanyak 140/167 responden (83.8%) tertarik mengikuti training manajemen meskipun bukan kewajiban dari institusi. Leadership, effective communication, dan survival skills merupakan keterampilan manajemen yang paling dibutuhkan selama bertugas di daerah tertinggal, metode training yang diinginkan yaitu workshop, seminar dan diskusi kasus. Waktu pelaksanaan training yang diinginkan adalah sebelum penempatan, selama penempatan dan saat studi pendidikan dokter. Kesimpulan: Kompetensi manajemen dapat berkembang dengan adanya training manajemen. Rekomendasinya adalah training manajemen dapat diberikan saat studi pendidikan dokter dengan memasukkan pendidikan manajemen dalam kurikulum undergraduate serta menciptakan program intensif berupa rural clerkship program sebagai media pembelajaran.
