Abstract


Background:

Keloid is an excessive formation of scar tissue. Keloid formation involves the expression of TGF-β. Excessive wound formation will undergo migration activity on keloid fibroblast. Migration activity on keloid fibroblast is 2-5 times faster than normal fibroblast. The increase in matrix metalloproteinase production has an important role in migration activity. Preliminary research suggests that Tagitinin C hasproliferation inhibition activity and collagen deposits so that the study continues.

Objective:

This study aims to examine the effects of isolate tagitinin C on migratory activity and TGF-β1 expression in keloid fibroblast cells.

Methods:

This research is quasi experimental using post test only with controlled group design with primary culture sample of keloid fibroblast that consist of control and treatment group. The migratory activity was performed by scratch assay test, and TGF-β1 expression examination refers to manufacturer protocol of Human TGF-β1 Elisa measurement kit.

Result:

Isolate tagitinin C may inhibit the migratory activity of keloid fibroblast cells at 48 hourssignificantly between groups (p<0,05). Isolate tagitinin C can decrease the expression of TGF-β1 (p<0,05).

Conclusions:

Isolate tagitinin C may decrease migration activity on keloid fibroblast at 48 hours. The group given isolate tagitinin C may decrease TGF-β1 expression.
