The central government risk communication in 2020
Analysis of Center Government’s Message Contents in News during January-April 2020 on CNN Indonesia.com, Detik.com, and Kompas.com
Purpose: Risk communication is an important thing in overcoming the COVID-19 pandemic. Effective risk communication can increase public trust. Online mass media is a means of information that can encourage social change in society. The purpose of this research is to study the communication patterns of the central government from January-April 2020 news on CNNIndonesia, Detik.com, and Kompas.com based on message content and rapid tone and according to CERC theory.
Method: The type of research used is a document study using content analysis that compares message patterns based on time, namely before the COVID-19 confirmation case in Indonesia and after the COVID-19 confirmation case in Indonesia.
Results: The most risk communication provided in the pre-crisis phase was risk communication in the form of facts and the most risk communication provided during the crisis phase was risk communication in the form of advice. Communication in the form of facts and facts related to hoaxes has a neutral tone, risk communication in the form of appeals and actions that have been taken as a positive and negative tone, then risk communication related to hoaxes and misinformation has a negative tone. Some of the risk communications from the government are under accordance with the CERC guidelines and some are not under accordance with the CERC guidelines.
Conclusion: The government tends to provide risk communication related to COVID-19 that is not in accordance with the CERC guidelines.
