Abstract

Late modernity has had a major impact on the transition of youth into the world of work. Threats and risks from the existence of technology created a more dynamic labor market. Therefore, it forces youth to develop strategies that are tailored to the orientation of the job in the future. The studies placed more emphasis on strategies carried out by youth. Even in the context of late modernity, youth people also expand the dimensions of their strategy to penetrate the digital world, one of which is by using Instagram. Instagram is used as a medium to show their identity and biography in order to support young people’s self-representation toward their future job. The future orientation typology of Ranji Devadason as a tool to analyze the alignment of this strategy with their future job. This study used a narrative method by combining in-depth interviews and social media tours to be able to photograph the existing reality. The findings in this study indicated that youth people constructed their identities and biographies in a Do It Yourself (DIY) way on Instagram as an effort to reach their dream job and support the work that is currently being carried out.
