Journal History

Jurnal Studi Pemuda is an academic publication of Youth Studies Centre (YouSure), Faculty of Social and Political Science, Universitas Gadjah Mada. First issued in 2012, Jurnal Studi Pemuda is the first Indonesian journal to take on youth issues as its focus of discussion. This journal aims to answer problems and produce knowledge on youth issues through interdisciplinary perspectives.

Initiated by Dr. Muhammad Najib Azca (Director) and Dr.Oki Rahadianto Sutopo (Executive Director) and further aided by YouSure supporting team, Jurnal Studi Pemuda published it first issue in 2012. Volume 1 No. 1 was published in May 2012, followed by Volume 1 No. 2 in September 2012. For these two issues YouSure received assistance on funding from Kemenpora (Kementerian Pemuda dan Olahraga) and on publishing from P2MPS (Perkumpulan Pengkajian Masyarakat dan Perubahan Sosial). From 2013 onwards YouSure manage the funding and publishing processes with assistance from Faculty of Social and Political Science, Universitas Gadjah Mada.

Publication process of Jurnal Studi Pemuda mainly relied on offline system until 2015. To further expand the publication range Jurnal Studi Pemuda launched an independent website in 2016 and later officially joined the Universitas Gadjah Mada journal.

As a statement of intent to maintain not only national but further international orientation, Jurnal Studi Pemuda involve a number of internationally recognized contributors and reviewers such as Emeritus Professor Ben White from The Hague International Institute of Social Studies, Dr. Merlyna Lim from Carleton University Canada, Professor Pamela Nilan from University of Newcastle, and Professor Nancy J. Smith- Hefner from Boston University.

  • Since 2018, Jurnal Studi Pemuda has renewed the composition of the editorial board in collaboration with academics from several universities in Indonesia and abroad.
