1. Submission Policy

Manuscripts submitted to Jurnal Perlindungan Tanaman Indonesia must be the author’s original work and must not have been previously published or simultaneously submitted to any other publication.

2. Manuscript Preparation

A manuscript is strongly recommended to be written in English. A manuscript submitted in Bahasa Indonesia will be translated into English upon submission. Translation fee will be the responsibility of the authors. Manuscripts must be written using a standard word processor, preferably MS Word for Windows (ver. 2007) or MS Word for Macintosh (ver. 2021).

Paper Size: A4 (210 × 297 mm).

Line Spacing: 1.5 lines throughout the manuscript except for the abstract, tables, figure captions, references, and other notes, which should be single-spaced.

3. Figures and Tables

3.1. Figures
To ensure the highest quality, figures must meet resolution, size, and format requirements as follows:
  • Submit each figure as a separate file, not embedded in the main manuscript.
  • Figures must be numbered in the order they appear in the text and have descriptive captions.
  • Do not include figure numbers, captions, or author names in the figure itself.
  • Captions should follow the tables in the manuscript and also be pasted in the figure caption field during upload.
  • Multi-panel figures must be combined and submitted as a single, pre-assembled file.
  • Use Arial, 14 pt bold for labels; all other labels minimum 9 pt, consistent font.
  • Capitalize only the first word and proper nouns.
  • Include scale bars where relevant.
  • Images must be clear, high quality, and cropped square.

File Specifications:

  • 1-column width: 3.25 inches (85 mm), minimum 1,050 pixels wide.
  • 2-column width: 7 inches (178 mm), minimum 2,100 pixels wide.
  • Max figure depth: 9.7 inches (246 mm).
  • Minimum resolution: 300 dpi.
  • Accepted formats: .tiff, .jpg, .eps (TIFFs must use LZW compression, no JPEG compression, RGB for color, flattened).
  • If unavailable, submit original MS Office files (Word, PPT, Excel) or high-quality PDFs with captions included.
  • For graphs, use clear tics and boxed plots, with solid fill or patterns for bars.
  • Line drawings and text in figures should be at double resolution for clarity: about 2,000 px (1-column) or 4,000 px (2-column).

3.2 Tables

Tables present precise numerical data and must be clear and self-explanatory without referring to the text, considering the following aspects:

  • Cite tables in numeric order.
  • Titles should summarize table content, not repeat headings.
  • Headings must be concise; tables must have at least two columns.
  • Abbreviations are acceptable; explain non-standard ones in footnotes.
  • Do not use ditto marks. Round numbers to significant digits.
  • Do not use vertical or horizontal lines within the table data fields (open table).
  • Use superscript letters (a, b, c, etc.) for footnotes; if mean separation letters are used, start footnotes at x, y, z.
  • Tables must be created in text format and submitted on numbered pages after the References section, portrait orientation only.
  • Decimal follows the significant number rules.

4. Manuscript Structure

First page: Title, full author names and addresses, phone, fax, emails. Indicate the corresponding author.
Second page: Title, abstract (~250 words) with goals, methods, results, and keywords.
The main text should include:

Refer to the Journal Template for detailed formatting.

8. Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Large Language Models (LLM)

Authors may use AI-based tools to assist with grammar, language refinement, and writing clarity, provided that the final manuscript fully represents the authors’ original ideas and does not include AI-generated new concepts, interpretations, or findings. Suppose authors employ Large Language Models (LLMs) or similar generative AI tools (e.g., OpenAI’s ChatGPT), they must ensure that all text in the manuscript reflects their original research, with full human authorship and oversight.

The use of AI technologies for data analysis or classification is acceptable and should be treated like any other research tool. The method and details of how AI was applied must be clearly described in the Materials and Methods section. When appropriate, AI techniques such as machine learning or regression analysis may be used to meet research objectives.
