Abstract

Harjobinangun and Candibinangun Villages, located in the Pakem Subdistrict of Sleman Regency, possess promising prospects in the fields of tourism and micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs). At present, both villages are focusing on the development of tourism villages as a strategy to strengthen the local economy while simultaneously promoting improvements in health and productivity among community members. Given this potential, it is essential to implement programs that leverage the concept of tourism villages and promote public health in Harjobinangun and Candibinangun through psychoeducational interventions. Such efforts must encompass community skills development, knowledge enhancement, and the advancement of the tourism village itself. Accordingly, the primary objective of this study is to empower the local community to develop tourism villages and to enhance the products generated by productive MSMEs. This research implements psychoeducational programs targeted at the local population and yields improvements in the tourism village potential, public health, and productivity within the area. Findings indicate that, overall, the Pakem Subdistrict holds significant tourism potential. However, in the face of increasing contemporary demands, promotion through social media has not yet been optimized. The community empowerment initiatives carried out in this study represent a community-based intervention focused on enhancing self-efficacy, with the ultimate aim of realizing the villages' potential. In conclusion, all programs were ultimately handed back to the community, which had developed the capacity to implement them independently.
