 JOURNAL DESCRIPTION

Gadjah Mada International Journal of Business (GamaIJB) is a peer-reviewed journal published three times a year (January-April, May-August, and September-December) by the Master of Business Administration, Faculty of Economics and Business, Universitas Gadjah Mada (MBA FEB UGM). GamaIJB aims to be the university’s journal for publishing articles that report the results of research into business.

GamaIJB invites manuscripts in various areas, including marketing management, finance management, strategic management, operations management, human resources management, e-business, knowledge management, management accounting, management control systems, management information systems, international business, business economics, business ethics and sustainability, and entrepreneurship.

The primary criterion for publication in the journal is the significance of the contribution an article makes to the literature in the business area, including the rigor of the analysis and the quality of the presentation. The acceptance decision is based on an independent review process that provides critically constructive and prompt evaluations of submitted manuscripts.

AUDIENCE
The primary, but not exclusive, audience is academicians, postgraduate students, business practitioners, and other people interested in business research.

POLICY ON DATA AVAILABILITY
The objective of the Gadjah Mada International Journal of Business is to provide the widest possible dissemination of knowledge, based on systematic scholarly inquiries into business as a field of professional research and educational activity. As part of this process, authors are encouraged to make their data available for others to use in extending or replicating the results reported in their articles. Authors of articles reporting data-dependent results should include a footnote detailing the status of the data’s availability and, when relevant, provide information on how the data can be accessed.

REPRODUCTION POLICY

An objective of the Gadjah Mada International Journal of Business is to promote the wide dissemination of the results of systematic scholarly inquiries into the broad field of business research. Permission is granted to reproduce any contents of the journal for use in courses of instruction, provided that the source and “Master of Business Administration Program, Faculty of Economics and Business, Universitas Gadjah Mada (MBA FEB UGM) copyright” are indicated in such reproductions.

For permission to reproduce any contents of the journal for purposes other than instructional use, such as inclusion in books of readings or other publications intended for general distribution, a written application must be made to the editor-in-chief. In such cases, the applicant must notify the author(s) in writing of the intended use of each reproduction. Normally, the journal will not charge for the waiver of copyright.

Except where otherwise noted in articles, the copyright of articles in the journal has been transferred to the MBA FEB UGM. Where the author(s) have not transferred the copyright to the MBA FEB UGM, the applicant must seek permission to reproduce (for all purposes) directly from the author(s).

AUTHOR FEE
The Gadjah Mada International Business Journal does not charge any fees to authors, including submission or publication fees. Please note that proofreading costs are the responsibility of the authors.

SUBMISSION POLICY
The Author should submit the manuscript in word format to the GamaIJB Editorial Office by online submission to http://journal.ugm.ac.id/gamaijb. All manuscripts must be prepared according to the Gadjah Mada International Journal of Business guidelines. Upon the submission of the manuscripts, the author(s) will receive confirmation.

PEER REVIEW PROCESS and EDITORIAL DECISION

All submitted manuscripts are initially reviewed by the editorial staff. Manuscripts deemed inappropriate to the journal’s criteria are promptly rejected without external review. Manuscripts considered to be of potential interest to our readership are sent for a double-blind peer review. Based on the reviewers’ recommendations, the editors will decide whether the manuscript should be rejected, requires major revision, needs minor revision, or is accepted.

The editor-in-chief of the Gadjah Mada International Journal of Business has the final authority to decide which manuscripts will be published.

Review Process:

  1. Author submits the manuscript.
  2. Editor’s evaluation (some manuscripts may be rejected or returned before the review process).
  3. Double-blind peer review.
  4. Editor’s decision.
  5. Confirmation to the authors.

AUTHOR GUIDELINE
Each manuscript must include a reference list containing only the works cited and must utilize Endnote, Mendeley, or Zotero tools, following the APA Citation Style format. Each entry should contain all the necessary information for clear identification.

Format
Manuscripts should be typed on A4 paper (210mm x 297mm) using a 12-point Times New Roman font and must be 1.5 line-spaced, except for indented quotations. The manuscript must be saved as a Word file. All pages, including those containing tables, appendices, and references, should be numbered consecutively. Spell out numbers from one to ten, except when used in tables, lists, or with mathematical, statistical, scientific, or technical units and quantities (e.g., distances, weights, and measures). For example: three days; 3 kilometers; 30 years. All other numbers should be expressed numerically. Authors are encouraged to use the GamaIJB template. A sample template is included at the end of this document.

Language
The manuscript must be written in good academic English, following the spelling conventions of Webster’s International Dictionary. To ensure an anonymous review, authors should not identify themselves directly or indirectly in their papers. A single author should not use the word “we.” Authors whose native language is not English are encouraged to have their papers checked for grammar and clarity before submission. We use Grammarly to help eliminate language errors. Ensure that the manuscript does not contain more than 200 errors and has no more than 5% plagiarism indicators.

Article Length
The article should be between 4,000 and 7,000 words. While the allowable length of the manuscript is at the editor’s discretion, manuscripts shorter or longer than the specified word count may be returned to the author(s) for revision before consideration by the editors. The word count excludes the abstract, tables, figures, and references.

TITLE PAGE
Article Title
The title of the article should be specific, effective, and no more than 20 words. Use simple and straightforward language to create a title that offers readers a clear glimpse of the content at first glance.

Author’s name and Affiliations
The full name, affiliation at the time the research was completed, and address for each author, including the full postal address, telephone number, and email address, must be provided. For articles with multiple authors, please provide detailed contact information for the corresponding author(s).

Abstract
The abstract should stand alone, meaning that no citations are included. It should concisely inform the reader of the manuscript’s purpose, methods, findings, and value. The abstract should be relatively nontechnical, yet clear enough for an informed reader to understand the manuscript’s contribution. The manuscript’s title, but not the author’s name or any other identifying information, should appear on the abstract page. The abstract, which should be between 100-200 words, must be presented in English on a separate page immediately preceding the text of the manuscript.

Keyword
Keywords are an important part of writing an abstract. Authors should select up to five specific keywords that reflect the essential aspects of the article. Keywords and the article’s classification should be provided after the abstract.

JEL Classification Numbers
Authors should include 1 to 3 JEL Classification Numbers. An information guide for the Journal of Economic Literature (JEL) can be found at https://www.aeaweb.org/jel/guide/jel.php.

Main Article
Manuscripts submitted to this journal should include the following main headings:

Introduction
The main section of the article should begin with an introductory section that addresses the purpose and motivation of the study, as well as the research methods and findings. This introduction should be relatively nontechnical but clear enough for an informed reader to understand the manuscript’s contribution.

Literature Review
In this section, the author will discuss the purpose of the literature review. A literature review summarizes and synthesizes findings from various sources, highlighting significant theories, methodologies, and conclusions. It not only describes existing literature but also analyzes and compares different perspectives and approaches, demonstrating the author's understanding of the field.

Methods
This section typically includes the following sub-sections: sampling (a description of the target population, the research context, and units of analysis; sampling methods; and respondents’ profiles), data collection, and measures (alternatively, measurement).

Results
The author needs to report the results in sufficient detail so that the reader can understand which statistical analyses were conducted and why, as well as how these analyses justify the conclusions.

Reporting results: The author may assume that the reader has a working knowledge of basic statistics, such as those typically covered in an introductory statistics course.

Discussion

Different authors take various approaches when writing the discussion section. According to Feldman (2004:5), Perry et al. (2003:658), and Summers (2001:411-412), the discussion section should:

  1. Restate the study’s main purpose.
  2. Reaffirm the importance of the study by highlighting its main contributions.
  3. Summarize the results in relation to each research objective or hypothesis, without introducing new material.
  4. Relate the findings back to the literature and the results reported by other researchers.
  5. Provide possible explanations for any unexpected or non-significant findings.
  6. Discuss the managerial implications of the study.
  7. Highlight the main limitations of the study that could affect its internal and external validity.
  8. Discuss insightful (i.e., non-obvious) directions or opportunities for future research related to the topic.

Conclusion
In this section, the author presents brief conclusions from the research results, along with suggestions for future researchers or general readers. The conclusion should cover the main points of the paper without replicating the abstract.

Limitation
Authors should clearly articulate the major flaws and limitations of their study, which may affect the validity of their findings and raise questions from readers about how these limitations may have influenced the results and conclusions. Discussing limitations requires critical judgment and interpretation of their impact on the research. The author should address whether the limitations are due to errors, methodological choices, validity issues, or other factors.

References
In writing the article, the author(s) are required to use reference management tools (example: Mendeley, EndNote, or Zotero) in writing the citation and list of references. Authors may use some flexible terms for the subheading following the main heading. Authors are encouraged to use the manuscript template that can be found at the bottom of this guideline (Journal Template).

Artwork
The author must provide high-quality artwork for all illustrations. Poor resolution or definition is not acceptable. Tables and figures should be numbered separately (e.g., Table 1, Table 2; Figure 1, Figure 2). Each table and figure should have a title and be presented on a separate page at the end of the manuscript. Figures and tables reproduced from previously published work must include permission from the original publisher or copyright holder.
