Registration and login are required to submit items online and to check the status of current submissions.

 

Author Guidelines

JURIS GENTIUM LAW REVIEW accepts research articles, case commentaries, book reviews, and article reviews which provide in-depth analysis on any issues within the area of public international law, private international law, or comparative law. Submissions must be written by a maximum of 2 current undergraduate and/or undergraduate student(s) in proper English.

Research articles must consist of:

  1. Title (max 15 words)

  2. Abstract (100-200 words)

  3. Introduction;

  4. Body (as per topic);

  5. Conclusion;

  6. Bibliography; and

  7. “About the Author” (Full Name, Entrance Year, University, Faculty, Major, and Special Concentration if applicable) which may be inserted as a footnote;

  8. 4000-8000 words, excluding titles, abstract, headings, bibliography, and “about the author”, but including footnotes.

 Case commentaries, book reviews, and article reviews must consist of:

  1. Title (max 15 words)

  2. Introduction;

  3. Body/Analysis;

  4. Conclusion;

  5. Bibliography;

  6. “About the Author” (Full Name, Entrance Year, University, Faculty, Major, and Special Concentration if applicable) which may be inserted as a footnote;

  7. A maximum of 4000 words, excluding titles, abstract, headings, bibliography, and “about the author”, but including footnotes.

Submissions of all kinds must employ footnotes for citations (Chicago 17th Referencing System). Footnotes are allowed for non-reference purposes.

There should be at least 20 references used, and authors may only cite reliable sources.

 

Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.

  1. The submission has not been previously published, nor is it before another journal for consideration (or an explanation has been provided in Comments to the Editor).
  2. The submission file is in OpenOffice, Microsoft Word, RTF, or WordPerfect document file format.
  3. Where available, URLs for the references have been provided.
  4. The text is single-spaced; uses a 12-point font; employs italics, rather than underlining (except with URL addresses); and all illustrations, figures, and tables are placed within the text at the appropriate points, rather than at the end.
  5. The text adheres to the stylistic and bibliographic requirements outlined in the Author Guidelines, which is found in About the Journal.
  6. If submitting to a peer-reviewed section of the journal, the instructions in Ensuring a Blind Review have been followed.
