Focus and Scope

Jurnal Media dan Komunikasi Indonesia (JMKI) is a peer-reviewed academic journal that publishes original research articles in the field of communication and media studies. The journal aims to provide a platform for the development and dissemination of scholarly work that contributes to a deeper understanding of communication practices in diverse contexts.

The scope of JMKI covers, but is not limited to, the following areas:

  • Communication and media studies

Publication Frequency

JMKI is published biannually, in March and September, to provide a consistent and reliable platform for the dissemination of research in the fields of media and communication. Each issue presents selected articles that have undergone a rigorous peer-review process, ensuring both academic quality and relevance to current developments in the discipline.

 

Open Access Policy

This journal provides immediate open access to its content on the principle that making research freely available to the public supports a greater global exchange of knowledge. By removing access barriers, the journal seeks to foster inclusivity and ensure that scholars, practitioners, students, and the wider community—regardless of their institutional or geographical background—can benefit from and contribute to the advancement of knowledge.

Open access is also intended to encourage wider dissemination, higher visibility, and greater impact of the research published, thus supporting innovation and informed decision-making across academic and professional fields. In line with this principle, JMKI does not charge readers or institutions any subscription fees, ensuring that all published content remains freely and permanently accessible online.

 

Screening Plagiarism

As part of our commitment to upholding academic integrity and publication ethics, every manuscript submitted to Jurnal Media dan Komunikasi Indonesia (JMKI) is checked for similarity before entering the peer review process.

We use Turnitin as our plagiarism detection tool to ensure that submitted work meets the required originality standards. Any manuscript that shows significant overlap or potential plagiarism is returned to the author for clarification or revision, and in serious cases may be rejected outright.

This procedure is carried out consistently to safeguard the quality and credibility of the research we publish.
