Jurnal Gizi Klinik Indonesia (The Indonesian Journal of Clinical Nutrition) was first published in July 2004, with an initial publication frequency of once every four months until the March 2011 issue (Volumes 1–7). Starting from the July 2011 issue (Volume 8), the journal has been published on a quarterly basis.
Jurnal Gizi Klinik Indonesia has been recognized as a nationally accredited scientific journal since 2009, with the following accreditation history:
July 2009 – July 2012, Accredited based on the Decree of the Director General of Higher Education, Ministry of National Education of the Republic of Indonesia, Number: 83/DIKTI/Kep/2009, dated 6 July 2009.
July 2012 – July 2017, Accredited based on the Decree of the Director General of Higher Education, Ministry of National Education of the Republic of Indonesia, Number: 56/DIKTI/Kep/2012, dated 24 July 2012.
April 2017 – April 2021, Accredited as an Electronic Scientific Journal (SINTA 2) based on the Decree of the Director General of Research and Development Strengthening, Ministry of Research, Technology, and Higher Education, Number: 30/E/KPT/2018.
January 2021 (Vol. 17 No. 3) – October 2025 (Vol. 22 No. 2), Accredited as a Scientific Journal (SINTA 2) based on the Decree of the Director General of Higher Education, Research, and Technology, Number: 158/E/KPT/2021.
Since January 2016, Jurnal Gizi Klinik Indonesia has been available online with ISSN 2502-4140 (Online), enabling authors and researchers to more easily access published research articles. In addition, manuscript submissions to Jurnal Gizi Klinik Indonesia are accepted exclusively through the online submission system (OJS).
Jurnal Gizi Klinik Indonesia has implemented several improvements to the journal manuscript layout, as outlined below:
Since Volume 12 Number 1 (July 2015), revisions were made to the running title in accordance with the journal’s guidelines for running titles, along with changes in the format of author affiliations.
Since Volume 13 Number 1 (July 2016), additional information regarding the online ISSN (ISSN 2502-4140 [Online]) has been included in the running title. A statement indicating that JGKI has been available online since January 2016 was also added, along with the inclusion of a conflict of interest statement within the manuscript.
Since Volume 16 Number 1 (July 2019), Digital Object Identifier (DOI) information has been added to the running title, and citation guidelines have been included in the footer below the correspondence section. In addition, the Methods section has been structured into three subsections: study design and subjects, data collection and measurement, and data analysis.
Starting from Volume 23 Number 1 (July 2026), JGKI accepts manuscripts only in English, begins accepting systematic review and meta-analysis manuscripts, and implements a new journal cover design.
Jurnal Gizi Klinik Indonesia is indexed in both national and international indexing databases, including the Directory of Open Access Journals (DOAJ) (International), Crossref (International), Google Scholar (International), Dimensions (International), Science and Technology Index (SINTA) (National), Garba Rujukan Digital (GARUDA) (National), as well as other peer-reviewed citation databases.
