Abstract

Production responses of laying quails to feed restriction during rearing were observed in four trials. The research was an experimental observation applying Complete Randomized Design. The treatments of restricted feeding were quantitatively as follows, i.e PO (ad libitum feeding as control), P1 (90% restricted feeding of ad libilum), P2 (80% restricted feeding of ad libitum), and P3 (70% restricted feeding of ad libitum). Every single treatment consiststed of 6 replication of 12 quails each. Restricted feeding treatment was carried out days old quail until the birds got their sexual maturity. After sexual maturity, was the birds were fed normally (ad libitium). Observation is conducted for the feed consumption, the body weight gain, the feed conversion in growth period, and performance of egg production. The results of experiment indicated that the restricted feeding any significantly influenced (P<0.01) the body weight gain however, it did not show significant influence (P>0.05) on feed conversion. The research showed that the restricted feeding significantly (P<0.01) could increase the egg production and decrease the feed conversion at the early production.
