Journal History

The Indonesian Journal of Biotechnology (IJBiotech) was first published in 1996 by the Research Center for Biotechnology and the Graduate School of Universitas Gadjah Mada, Yogyakarta, Indonesia, with the objective of disseminating the latest or recent findings in biotechnology and its related fields.

As of Volume 22 Issue 1 in 2017, the journal has adopted a more rigorous publication standard, with a greater focus on article quality. This is reflected in IJBiotech’s stricter submissions policy, with more detailed guidelines and thorough screening of articles, as well as aesthetic changes to the journal to increase readability. This change also brought with it a new, more comprehensive editorial policies, which will guide the direction of IJBiotech into its future as a respected journal in biotechnology. IJBiotech now boasts a modernized approach to academic publication, with a streamlined submission, review, and publication process.

Changes in the appearance of the journal’s articles include the inclusion of the article’s DOI, a copyright notice, and a banner with the journal's name, as well as some changes in the layout. Changes to the author guidelines include alterations in article structure and a new citation style, along with more detailed instructions and a template to guide authors through the manuscript preparation and submission process.
