Abstract
The diagnosis of autoimmune encephalitis is quite difficult because of the similarity in clinical, imaging, and laboratory findings in many types of autoimmune encephalitis as well as infectious encephalitis.
Despite the importance of CT Scan or Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI), EEG examination still has many advantages, especially in determining the functional status of brain. EEG recording findings in patients with viral and autoimmune encephalitis show several distinctive patterns that may be the clue to a specific etiology.
We searched literatures and journals to conclude the role of EEG in establishing the diagnosis
of encephalitis.
ABSTRAK
Penegakan diagnosis ensefalitis autoimun merupakan suatu hal yang cukup sulit, dikarenakan oleh adanya kesamaan dalam temuan klinis, pencitraan, dan laboratorium pada banyak jenis ensefalitis autoimun dan juga ensefalitis infeksius.
Dengan adanya pemeriksaan penunjang lain berupa CT Scan atau Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI), keberadaan pemeriksaan EEG tetap memiliki kelebihan terutama dalam menentukan status fungsional otak. Gambaran EEG pada pasien dengan beberapa ensefalitis viral dan autoimun menemukan beberapa pola khas yang dapat menjadi petunjuk etiologi yang spesifik.
Tujuan dari penulisan tinjauan pustaka ini adalah untuk menyimpulkan peranan EEG dalam penegakkan diagnosis ensefalitis dari hasil pencarian dan analisis jurnal dan literatur yang mendukung.
