The research questions aim to uncover teachers' strategies in acting as literacy promoters despite existing limitations. This qualitative study employs a case study design through observation, in-depth interviews, questionnaires, and document analysis. Literacy challenges and strategies were identified through data analysis using the Miles and Huberman model. The findings indicate that the absence of a library hinders students' access to reading materials. To serve as effective coordinators for this purpose, teachers adopt innovative methods to manage books, including bringing books from home, shared reading time, literacy games, book review assignments, and more. Although limited facilities are perceived as obstacles, these strategies successfully boost students' motivation. Additionally, factors such as the low reading culture within families and unsupportive digital media also influence students' reading interest. In summary, teachers act as both library substitutes and literacy promoters. However, this role cannot be fulfilled in isolation it requires investment in training, reading materials, and partnerships with communities and government. Therefore, this study provides strategic recommendations for developing sustainable literacy policies for schools with limited facilities.
Septevan Nanda Yudisman, Jalinur, Danang Prambudi Copyright (c) 2025 jalinur https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/4.0 https://jurnal.ugm.ac.id/v3/MI/article/view/20015 Mon, 19 May 2025 08:15:59 +0700 Audit Informasi Terhadap Layanan Repositori Institusi Perpustakaan DPR RI https://jurnal.ugm.ac.id/v3/MI/article/view/19744
The aim of the research is to identify information audit practices in institutional repository services at the DPR RI Library. Environmental factors such as uncontrolled temperature and relative humidity can accelerate the degradation of collections. This study aims to analyze the microclimate conditions in the manuscript collection room of the Universitas Indonesia (UI) Library to evaluate the risks to collection preservation. Temperature and relative humidity monitoring was carried out continuously for one month using data loggers in the UI Library's manuscript collection room. The data obtained were analyzed to calculate the Equivalent Lifetime Multiplier (eLM) value, an index that measures the impact of temperature on the lifespan of collections. The results showed that the average temperature in the collection room was 28.1°C, with an average relative humidity of 70.2%. The eLM value obtained was 0.209, indicating that the collection is at high risk of degradation with an effective lifespan of only 20.9% of its ideal lifespan. Significant temperature and humidity fluctuations were also observed during the monitoring period, especially when the HVAC system was not operating. In conclusion, the microclimate conditions in the UI Library's manuscript collection room are not ideal for long-term collection preservation, with high temperatures and humidity as well as fluctuations that accelerate degradation. This study recommends optimizing the HVAC system, continuous environmental monitoring, and further research to develop effective mitigation strategies.
Muhammad Asyep Syam'aeni, Laksmi Laksmi Copyright (c) 2025 Muhammad Asyep Syam'aeni, Laksmi Laksmi https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/4.0 https://jurnal.ugm.ac.id/v3/MI/article/view/21331 Thu, 24 Jul 2025 09:44:12 +0700 Penerapan Manajemen Censorship di Perpustakaan UIN Raden Mas Said Surakarta https://jurnal.ugm.ac.id/v3/MI/article/view/21568
This research discusses the implementation of censorship management at UIN Raden Mas Said Surakarta Library as a strategy to control the procurement of collections that are not in accordance with academic needs and institutional values. The purpose of this study is to describe the process of applying censorship to library collections, as well as identify the obstacles faced by librarians in its implementation. This research uses a qualitative method with a descriptive approach. Data collection techniques were conducted through interviews, observation, and documentation. The informants in this study were the censorship team consisting of the head of the library, librarians in the procurement section, and collection processing. The results showed that censorship activities have been implemented since the inception of the library and are carried out periodically every time there is a new collection procurement plan. The approach used refers to the McColvin model which combines the librarian's professional point of view and user needs. Some of the obstacles encountered include budget constraints, the high cost of foreign collections, and proposals for banned collections. Selective and structured censorship management is needed to maintain collection quality and support academic goals
Mega Adjie Wikhda, Anis Masruri, Ajrun 'Azhim Al As'hal, Muhammad Inayat Copyright (c) 2025 Mega Adjie Wikhda, Anis Masruri, Ajrun 'Azhim, Muhammad Inayat https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/4.0 https://jurnal.ugm.ac.id/v3/MI/article/view/21568 Thu, 24 Jul 2025 10:19:43 +0700
