WOWINE DALAM KEBUDAYAAN MARITIM WAKATOBI BUTON: ANALISIS PIERRE BOURDIEU
Udu, Sumiman
Literature, Anthropology, Cultural Studies
Wowine, Culture, Wakatobi, habitus by Pierre Bourdieu
Wowine (female) has a very shining and very sad footprint in the history of maritime culture Wakatobi Buton. Wowine's glorious times were when Queen Wakaa-kaa and Ratu Bulawambona came to power in Buton (Zahari, 1977/1978; Zaenu, 1984). At that time, wowine has a very strategic position in the government system of the Sultanate of Buton. Wowine's involvement in the government system of the Sultanate of Buton, not only occupied his role as queen but also became one of the conditions worthy or not someone become Sultan. The idea of wowine in the maritime culture of Wakatobi Buton was born from the research using Pierre Bordiau approach to see the habits, the realm of maritime Wakatobi Buton in the past, present, and future. This paper shows that the involvement of women in the Sultanate government system of Buton is responsible for the welfare and salvation of the empire. In the life of Buton people, women are responsible for several things, (1) taking care of the child, (2) seeking sustenance together with husband, (3) educating children, and (4) doing deeds, “amala or hope” to protect the husband's safety while in outdoors. It is further explained that the empress in the Sultanate of Buton served to: (1) become the head of Sarana Bawina, (Head of the Women's Council of the Sultanate of Buton), (2) safeguard the welfare and health of the sultan, and (3) educate the women in the sultanate. The findings were based on the method used, namely literature study and field study. Library study (script) to find information about the existence of women in the maritime culture Wakatobi Buton in the past. Field observations and interviews to determine the current condition of women in the maritime culture of Wakatobi Buton.

PENERJEMAHAN ARAB-JAWA TRADISI PESANTREN PADA KARYA KITAB-KITAB KLASIK: ANALISIS FUNGSI
Masrukhi, Moh.
Literature, Anthropology, Cultural Studies, Religion Studies
pesantren traditions of translations, marker, function, and grammatical unit
The aims of education in Javanese pesantren is generally to transmit the teachings of Islam. Its teaching system to this day still refers to the Arabic classic books al-kutubul-mu`tabara (KKbA). In order for KKbA to be understood by the general public, there is an effort to translate it into Javanese language by translating the pesantren model or tradition (PTP). The typical translation of Pesantren is done per word according to the order in the source language (BSu) or the Arabic language. The apparent feature of the translation results is the addition of markers to the grammatical unit functions of the source language in the target language (BSa), like Javanese language. The theory used in this research is the Arabic syntax theory which is already well known and written by Arabic linguists. The result of the research about the marker of the grammatical unit function in KKbA is divided into four parts. This division is done to show the uniqueness of the structure owned by Arabic language. The division includes: a) marker of mubtada ' and khabar function; b) the marker of the functions of fā'il and nāib fā'il, c) the syntactic function marker of maf'ūl bih; and d) the marker of an explanatory function, such as maf'ūl fīh, maf'ūl mutlaq, maf'ūl li ajlihi, hāl, and tamyīz. Thus, this tradition of interpretation of Pesantren in addition to acquiring knowledge of KKbA studied, as well as get knowledge about Arabic grammar.

This research shows that despite the ideal purposes of inclusive writing system in French, there are a great potentiality that this new politic of linguistic will risk the transmission of French language in Indonesia. The difficulty is due to the complexity in the gender differentiation on the writing system adding a difficulty to the French learning which already well reputed as a difficult language to learn by the Indonesian public. The second problem is the uncertainty way of reading the new words using the median points, putting language instructors also in difficulty within their didactical task.

SEMARANG DAN SURABAYA DALAM PERSPEKTIF HISTORIS DAN EKONOMI KOTA: SEBUAH PEMIKIRAN HISTORIOGRAFIS
Wijayati, Putri Agus
History, Education, Cultural Studies, and Economic
Historical and economic perspective, town, and historiography
This article describes the economic history of the town and its dynamics. As part of the historical reality, urban economics further accentuates its economic elements based on trade, industry and services activities. Of the three factors above, which one actively contributes to growth in urban economic development? Or, among the three, may be intertwined or synergised, which in turn form a support force that can stimulate the economic growth rate of a city. However, is it that simple in explaining the economic history of the town?, because a historical study must also be considerate of changes over time, while when discussed is the economic dimension, then, we are dealing with statistical data used to understand a change in time, as is done by quantitative economic history. This paper takes spatial space in the cities of Surabaya and Semarang as both cities, dominantly influenced by elements of trade, industry and services.

PEKERJA ANAK DI SURAKARTA MASA KOLONIAL: DARI PEKERJA KELUARGA MENJADI PEKERJA UPAH
Darmarastri, Hayu Adi
History, Anthropology, Cultural Studies, and Religion Studies,
Child labour, Family worker, Wage worker, Surakarta
This article aims to explain about the alteration of the child labour which originally served as a family worker and later became a wage worker at the Surakarta’s during the colonial period. Children in Javanese rural community have been taught since an early age to help their parents, by doing house chores as well as work in the field. Those lessons transform child to be a family worker who helps their parent’s work without receiving any money. The position changed with the arrival of foreign capital who rented land in the Surakarta region to be used to grow cash crops that were sold in the world market, such as coffee, sugar cane and tobacco. Along with many plantations opened, more workers were needed. The limited number of existing workers is an entry point for women and children to work as wage workers in Surakarta’s plantations, one of which is the tobacco plantation.

MEMBINCANGKAN OTORITERIANISME: KAUSA KEGAGALAN NEGARA-NEGARA DUNIA KETIGA

Otoritarianism, Kegagalan, Negara-negara Dunia Ketiga

Kita Dan Dunia Kontemporer (Atau Mengapa Sejarawan Harus Menyesuaikan Cara Kerjanya Dengan Tuntutan Perkembangan Teknologi Informasi Digital)
Suwignyo, Agus
Historym Cultural Studies,
digital era, historical research, new historiography
In the last 15 years, the interest of Indonesian people in the history and study of history has increased very rapidly. This is indicated by the number and various type of historical books sold in bookstores and the posting of different historical events on social media. However, the history taught at school and university lecture does not seem to improve. The efforts of writing and teaching history lessons/courses still focus on models and the results of the formal study which tend to be a state-centric in nature. In particular, historical writing and teaching have faced challenges of the emerging changes caused by the global connectivity of information technology as a historical fact of the contemporary world that is growing. The contemporary world presents a new challenge in the study and teaching of history through the development of digital communications technology. This paper reviews historical positions and historians in the rapid dynamics of the development of digital communications technology. Why and how historians should develop a proper perspective in placing their studies in the current era of digital technology? Papers process data using digital technology and contrast it with the model and approach of historical study in Indonesia so far.

Beyond The Historiography: Film Dokumenter Sejarah Sebagai Alternatif Historiografi di Indonesia
Ratmanto, Aan
History, Cultural Studies,
alternative of historiography, history, documentary film
The Department of History, Faculty of Cultural Sciences, the University of Gadjah Mada in 2015 made a milestone in the development of historiography in Indonesia. They made a bold move to produce a scholar with a documentary film work instead of a thesis. In the future, it is not impossible that this step will soon be followed by other universities in Indonesia. This paper was written in response to these developments. In this digital era-and in the midst of still low interest in reading in Indonesia-emerged the discourse to seek new media for historiography in Indonesia. The film, especially documentary films are seen as new media that match the characteristics of history because of they both present real-life reality. Moreover, Indonesia with the diversity of tribes and culture and history, of course, save a variety of themes that will not run out to be appointed a documentary. Based on that, this paper will discuss the types, forms, and format of the documentary that is suitable and possible to be produced by history students as a substitute for thesis-considering the cost of film production tends to be higher than thesis research. Thus, the film of a documentary a college student, especially a history produces the quality of research and aestheticsKata

History Flash: Sejarah “Satu Menit”

history flash, short film, communication, inovasi pembelajaran
This paper elaborates thoughts regarding the use of digital communication technology in the innovation of historical explanation. So far, the explanation of history in the mainstream has set the written explanation (script) as a product of study and thought on historical reconstruction. The script is for sure an important form that has been widely accepted as an output of the past reconstruction. However, technological developments, especially in the field of digital communications, provide historians with new challenges regarding alternative forms of historical representation which confronts the existed conventional models. This paper offers thoughts about the method of historical reconstruction through flash history in the form of short filmmaking, which has the duration in minutes. The objective is to socialize history and bring closer the process of historical reconstruction to the daily life of the community, which currently engages with digital communication technology. The method applied in this study is a historical method. But, the stages and the outputs of this historical method is not a written narrative, but an audio-visual product that can be quickly shared as a learning medium and can be directly addressed by the community. The paper also reviews the limitations of digital technology as media and product in the process of historical reconstruction.

Nasionalis Pembaru Tanpa Kegaduhan: Biografi Manusiawi Sultan Hamengku Buwono IX
Purwanto, Bambang
History, Economic history of Indonesia, Cultural Studies
Biography, Sultan Hamengku Buwono IX, Humanism

Technological developments make it easier for historical reviewers to approach historical sources. But there is a trend in Indonesian digital society to change historical sources such as historical photos as information consumption. Along with the development of the times, analog photos turned into historical photos that were present in the millennial era appeared in two ways; first coloring photo history, the second "meme" set in historical photos. In order to track digital footage of this phenomenon, historical methodology and photo analysis of Roland Barthes are used to show the birth of historical photo coloring trends and memes in the digital world. The coloring of historical photos causes a change in time awareness of historical sources and memes on historical photographs cause a change and multiplication of meanings in digital photos as historical sources.

MENERAWANG MASA LALU DI ERA DIGITAL: FILM SEJARAH VIS A VIS HISTORIOGRAFI

Historical Film, Post-Literacy, and Methodology
In recent years historical film production or historical films — Historical Film, Historical Movie, Historical Cinema—have become increasingly massive in Indonesia. In its development, historical films in Indonesia are a massive medium to present a past that deserves to be remembered as a collective memory of society. Since the reform era, dozens of historical film titles have been produced and colouring the Indonesian film industry. As a result, many historical films have become references and reference sources for the community to find information about the past. It becomes reasonable to see the development of multimedia-based information technology (audiovisual) which has encouraged the emergence of post-literacy phenomena. In historical studies, historical films can be studied as a thematic study as well as in a methodological realm. As a thematic study, historical films are mental products (mentifact) and social products (sociofact) of society in a certain space of time. Whereas in the methodological realm, historical films can be explored through debates about historical sources or as narratives and representations of the past presented through film media. The study of historical films as a study of history is still a rare and less desirable subject for historians in Indonesia. This paper utilizes literature studies to answer some of the research problems posed. Literature studies of sources related to historical film studies are the focus of the researchers. In addition, a deeper understanding of the development of historical films in Indonesia is also a concern to uncover the souls of the times that surround historical film production. This study concludes that the existence of historical films in the present is a challenge for historians to face the era of openness and variety of media that presents information about the past.

Muhammadiyah, Ahmad Dahlan, hermeneutic
This article discusses the birth of Muhammadiyah from a hermeneutic perspective, especially from Gadamer. Ahmad Dahlan founded Muhammadiyah on 18 November 1912 based on the knowledge of the idea of modern Islamic reform and understanding and concern about the real condition of Muslims who was hit by poverty, ignorance and backwardness. Ahmad Dahlan has a high historical awareness to change the traditions of society which were covered by the syncretic Islamic tradition that produces superstitious culture and traditionalist Islam that produces heretical and khurafat cultures towards Islamic purification and the dynamism of Islamic society. Ahmad Dahlan's historical awareness was sustained by his strong temperament, firm stance and his courage to break the tradition of perverts.

Gafatar is a form of community upheaval in Indonesia in the current reform era. Issues surrounding the ideology and the attempts of treason case became the problem that caused Gafatar to lose the masses of the public. Gafatar has the concept of food self-sufficiency which is then implemented in a peasant movement as its criticism of the government. To explain the dynamics of the Gafatar social movement, used the theory of McAdam et al, about Political Opportunities, Mobilizing Structures, and Cultural Framings. The political opportunity arises from the distrust of government programs that have been offered to the people who are deemed to be ineffective. Mobilizing Structur Gafatar movement is manifested through the formation of the organization, forming a network of cooperation and collective action. While cultural framing, created through the issues addressed to Gafatar causing the formation of negative stigma in society.

KAJIAN TEORI FORMALISME DAN STRUKTURALISME
Manshur, Fadlil Munawwar
Literature, Cultural Studies
formalism, structuralism, de-familiarization, language, facts.
From the perspective of formalism theory, this study aims to reveal that a research on literary texts does not only pay attention to textual facts existing in literary works, but also needs to pay attention to what exists outside the text. In the literary works, the element of defamiliarization holds that literary language is able to express facts of stories using unfamiliar languages. From the perspective of structuralism theory, this study aims to reveal that structuralism is conceptually a continuation of formalism which largely depends on language. Structuralism theory has a close relationship with linguistics, especially in analyzing the functions of the language used. The analysis of language function can help understanding language semiotics that views literature as a sign that then led to literary semiotics. Therefore, functioning to examine a phenomenon, the concept of semiotic structuralism emerged as a social fact. Critical approach was deemed suitable to be used in this study because formalism theory and structuralism theory are part of a social construction and part of a discursive formation in the formation of subject and reality. As a result, it could be seen the position of formalism theory and structuralism theory in literary research of which raw material is language. The findings in this study are that the formalism theory in its development is dynamic and its language construction stimulates readers to respond. In principle, literary work is not autonomous because it contains author’s feelings and society’s mind. Literary research should exceed the boundaries of formalism and be able to create new vocabularies in writing novels. In the novel, there is intertextual polyvalence, which is a series and intensive dialogic linkages that are capable of giving birth to new novels. Another finding is that structuralism theory has a close relationship with linguistics, for example phonological elements in linguistics which can help literary theory in analyzing sound levels in oral literary works. This theory has also developed a study of poetry to the aesthetic level so that this study has shifted from its original aspects of verbal art only to all art and artistic aesthetics in the present time. This shift distinguishes the views between formalism and structuralism in relation to norms and values inherent in language.

ANALISIS KONTRASTIF NOMINALISASI DALAM BAHASA INGGRIS, BAHASA INDONESIA, DAN BAHASA JAWA

Literature, Cultural Studies, Religion Studies
nominalization, derivation, affixation, English-Indonesia-Javanese language
Along with verbs, nouns are very crucial—among other lexical and functional categories—in arranging linguistic constructions. Thus, there are many ways to change words from other word classes into nouns or known as nominalization. This paper aims at describing the similarities and differences of nominalization in English, Indonesian, and Javanese. By contrasting three different languages, this study can give another insight on nominalization, especially for language teachers and students of language. This study employed a qualitative method in accordance with the type of data collected (i.e. clauses containing nominalized units). The data were collected using metode simak for English language data and researchers’ intuition as the native speakers of Indonesian and Javanese. English language data were collected from English grammar books. The approach used is contrastive analysis to compare three languages under study. The method of analysis is metode padan translational and metode agih. The results of the analysis show that generally, these three languages use affixation, particles, and conversion as the nominalizers. English, however, differs from Indonesian and Javanese since it doesn’t have reduplication as nominalizer and the use of particle is limited to the initial position. Unlike English, Indonesian and Javanese tend to be alike and it is plausible since both are from the same language family. In the comparison, it is figured out that there are three main similarities and six differences of the realizations of nominalization in English, Indonesian, and Javanese. The results are plausible due to the unrelatedness of English with Indonesian and Javanese.

Salatiga City was located on the hillside of Merbabu Mountain and on highland has fresh air and cool climate. Salatiga City also located on the strategist area, reachable from Semarang, Solo, Ambarawa, and Magelang. Salatiga is very interesting for Europeans that live there in the Colonial Era. The implication for Modern Salatiga is to many historical buildings with classical European style in Salatiga. There is a well-preserved building, but also the same building was not preserved and destroyed. The historical building is a cultural heritage and national treasure that can be used for many good things, such as science or economics. To raise the awareness of the folk about historical buildings, we need to make publications and educate the folk about how important the historical building was. To get the publication material and education material was held historical research with a technical approach in a form of using Geographical Information System as research tools. As expected from this research can raise the awareness of the folks about how important the historical building.

DARI MONOPOLI HINGGA PELABUHAN BEBAS: AKTIVITAS PERDAGANGAN DI KARESIDENAN TERNATE 1854-1930
Hasim, Rustam
Trade chains, export-import commodity, Free port policy, and Ternate Island
This paper discusses trading practices conducted in the Ternate Residency after the Dutch turned the port in the residence as a free port in 1854. In line with this policy, several major export and import materials supported the growth of the port meanwhile clove commodities did not become superior goods due to Hongotochten and extirpate policies in the VOC period. This fact shows that the policy of turning into the free port in 1854 was not only apart of the intention to control the economic resources within Ternate Area, but also to create Ternate as a colonial area under the Dutch’s control. This, in fact, opened a new chapter for trading activities in the region. The purpose of this policy is to attract and concentrate the commercial activities of the indigenous population to the free port under the supervision of the Dutch colonial for they hoped to prevent an indigenous merchant from establishing trade relations with other European nations. This study found that in 1854 the Dutch government made Ternate a free port is the implementation of a free port as the first step to protect economic interests, besides it is intended to place the Dutch in maintaining trade control in the territory of the colony.

PENGANTAR
Purwanto, Bambang

Subsistence; Capitalism-Patriarchy; Nature; Women; Ecofeminism
Since capitalism-patriarchy is viewed as the specter of the problem of the emergence of injustice, it has been raising efforts to realize social justice and environmental sustainability through restructuring of the human mindset towards nature and fellow humans. The principle of capitalism-patriarchy has led to a culture of death and destruction because it is characterized by domination, power, exploitation, and environmental damage. This research sought to describe the criticism of patriarchal-capitalism and the subsistence perspective shown in the novel Aroma Karsa written by Dewi Lestari. Through ecofeminism proposed by Vandana Shiva and Mies, this study found that the power of the capitalist-patriarchal was represented through male figures such as; Jati Wesi, Khalil, and Ferdi, who utilize nature and parts of women's bodies for financial interests and sexual desires through the production of the most expensive perfume, make certain plant species endangered and oppressed. Their cultivation efforts cannot be separated from profit orientation. The perspective of subsistence is then carried out by women characters to preserve, protect, and utilize natural resources as needed out of exaggeration. It is illustrated through female figures; Janirah, Raras, and Tanaya Suma who tried to stem the power and domination of men over nature and women's bodies for the benefit of capital. The subsistence perspective in the novel Aroma Karsa by Dewi Lestari emphasizes the preservation and protection of nature for the sake of mutual needs and comfort, and it is women who understand more about nature more than men.

Ṣifat musyabbahah, gramatika tradisi Arab, pengkategori-an, kelas kata lintas-bahasa

Fairy tales are often identified with messages to be conveyed to readers, and can also contain certain ideologies. Many studies have analyzed the relations between fairy tales and gender ideology. Therefore, the writer chose the Soviet film entitled Двенадцать месяцев 'Twelve Months' (1972) as the source of research data, because there are additional elements written by Marshak. The purpose of this research is to describe the actant scheme and the characterization in the film, and to analyze whether gender ideology is present in the film, and how the ideology is presented. The approach used is the Greimas' actantial model approach. The method used in this research is qualitative and descriptive analytical methods. The result of this research shows that there are still gender stereotypes in the film, which can be seen from the actantial schemes and the characterization of the characters.

Anthropological Linguistics, Language Choice, Language Use, Language Variation, Tourism Aspects
The existence of tourism in the community provides an opportunity for the use of various language domains. The use of language by tour guides in National Park of Bantimurung Bulusaraung, Maros Regency, which is a Bugis-Makassar ethnic community, now used not only the regional language domain, Indonesian language, but also the Makassar Malay language (MML) domain and the foreign language (FL) domain. The use of this language is not only influenced by linguistic aspects but also influenced by non-linguistic aspects such as participant factors, speech situations, speech topics, the speaker's socio-cultural background and speech partners. This article described the forms and variations of language that arise from language contact by guides and tourists. The research method used is a qualitative method with anthropological linguistic approach. Data collection was done by recording and semi-structured interviews with several informants. From the research results found three language choices including single language variation (SLV), language code switching (CS), and code mixing (CM). There were three uses of SL variations, namely Bugis Language (BL), Makassar Malay (MML) and Indonesian Language (I.L) formal varieties. The used of CS from both Bugis to Makassar language (ML) was also found in local tourists (Bugis speakers or Makassar speakers), CS from regional languages (RL) to MML also occurs in interactions between speakers and tourists or speech partners who are not Bugis-Makassar speakers but were the speaker of other regional languages in South Sulawesi. The used of CS from MML to Indonesian language had a formal variety of interactions with domestic tourists. Variations in English Makassar Malay Language as both CS and CM were found in interactions with foreign tourists.

Analisis Berita Pencalonan Gubernur Dan Wakil Gubernur NTT Tahun 2018 Pada Surat Kabar Victory News: Sebuah Kajian Wacana Kritis
Lagut, Fransiskus Rolantus

Campaign, Fairclough’s critical discourse analysis, Governor election of East Nusa Tenggara, Newspaper, Victory News
This study aims to analyze the text, the practice of citizenship and the socio-cultural context in the news text of the election of the governor and vice governor of East Nusa Tenggara in 2018 in the Victory News newspaper. The theory used in this study is Norman Fairclough's critical discourse analysis to analyze texts, the practice of producing and consuming texts, and socio-cultural practices on texts. The method used is descriptive qualitative method. From the data analysis, conclusions can be drawn. First, the VN news text features the 'promise' vocabulary which tends to be used to weaken the pair of candidates for governor-vice-governor besides Viktory-Joss. Transitive sentences tend to be used in the headline of VJ packages while other packages tend to be intransitive sentences. The use of negative sentences and metaphors tends to be used to benefit VJ packages. The news texts used by Victory News tend to be descriptive and argumentative in nature, characterized by the use of meaningful causal conjunctions. Second, Victory News discourse tends to raise news about the campaign, vision and mission, the strength of character and background that supports the Viktory-Joss package. Victory News tends to be political, which means that the interests of the owners of these newspapers are more dominant than balanced reporting. Third, Victory News ideology is positive imaging by highlighting the VJ package so that the public positively evaluates the vision, missions, and actions taken by the package

Weleri dialect, dialectometry, dialectology, vocabulary, Kendal district
An important issue of whether two varieties of language are basically the same or whether they are different dialects or even different languages can be answered using the methods of dialectology. This study looks at the Javanese language used in Kendal regency in Java. People there from the Weleri district attest that their variety of Javanese is a dialect, distinct from the language used by other people in Kendal. There is also literature where the opinion supports this view. But there are also contradictory opinions. This research seeks to provide definitive evidence about the status of the Javanese used by people in the Weleri area, to end any further confusion about its status, one way or the other. The research involved data sampled from many points in the area and the analysis used dialectometry to establish the degree of difference and also interviews to find out what the views of local speakers were. The results were definitive but not without some other interesting facts concerning phatic particles in spoken Javanese coming to light

French cinema; HIV/AIDS, Henri Lefebvre, queer, study of spatiality

One Dimensional Man and The Future of Indonesian Spirit of “Gotong Royong”
Khasri, Muhammad Rodinal Khair
Sosial Humaniora, Filsafat, Sosiologi, Antropologi, Budaya
Epistemologi sosial, Gotong Royong, One-Dimensional Man, praksis sosial.
