Populasi

Populasi is a peer-reviewed journal that has been in publication since the 1990s, focusing on critical issues in population and public policy. Published biannually in June and December, Populasi welcomes original manuscripts based on both theoretical and empirical research. The journal covers a wide spectrum of topics, including population dynamics, policy analysis, poverty, family planning, reproductive health, employment, environmental concerns related to population, migration, crime, juvenile delinquency, and other key areas relevant to population studies and policy innovation. The Editorial Board invites scholars and researchers to contribute high-quality work that enriches academic and policy-oriented discussions in these vital fields.

The proposed manuscripts must be original, have never been published before or being considered to be published in other media, and free from plagiarism (proven by a written statement).

Submission of Manuscripts

  • Populasi uses Open Journal System (OJS) and recommends the authors to register in advance before uploading the manuscripts online to http://jurnal.ugm.ac.id/populasi. OJS facilitates the Editorial Board, the Editorial Staff, peer review, and authors to monitor the management of the manuscripts online.
  • Manusripts in form of MS-Word could be submitted via e-mail to jurnalpopulasi@ugm.ac.id

Call for Papers – Jurnal Populasi Vol 34 No 1 2026 (June)

 

Theme: "Population Dynamics, Policy, and Leadership: Navigating Demographic Shifts in a Changing World"

We invite submissions that explore, but are not limited to, the following topics:

  • Public policy responses to demographic change in decentralised governance systems
  • Political and community leadership in managing demographic dividends and youth potential
  • Governance challenges and leadership during population crises (e.g., pandemics, displacement, environmental disasters)
  • The role of women and youth in population advocacy and policy leadership
  • Population ageing and the politics of long-term care, pensions, and intergenerational justice
  • Reproductive health, gender, and demographic justice in public policy
  • Indigenous and customary leadership in managing land, population rights, and natural resources
  • Innovations in demographic data governance and leadership in evidence-based policymaking


Submission Guidelines

Jurnal Populasi accepts manuscripts written in English. All submissions will undergo a blind peer-review process. Manuscripts should be submitted through the journal’s online submission system, accessible via the Jurnal Populasi website. Authors who do not yet have an account are required to register prior to submission.

Vol 33, No 1 (2025)
