Abstract

In the post-truth era, the spread of false information or hoaxes has become increasingly prevalent, influenced by the ease of disseminating information, low digital literacy, and rising social polarization. This article explores the importance of digital media communication ethics to mitigate these adverse effects, emphasizing the importance of upholding ethical principles in a digital context. Using qualitative methods, involving documentary studies and observations, this research identifies that digital media communication ethics play a crucial role in protecting users' rights to accurate information, privacy, and freedom of expression. Amid the challenges of the post-truth era, where emotions and personal beliefs often dominate over objective facts, this study underscores the importance of accuracy, clarity, objectivity, fairness, and responsibility in digital media communication. The research also highlights the active roles of government, media, and society in developing a healthier and more transparent information environment, as well as the importance of digital literacy in distinguishing between true and false information. Thus, this article contributes to a deeper understanding of how digital media communication ethics can help prevent the spread of false information and support the formation of more informative and responsible public opinion in the post-truth era.
