MANIFESTASI IDENTITAS ISLAM SUKU BAJO DALAM NASKAH LONTARAK ASSALENNA BAJO
Baskara, Benny
The Bajo people are known as the sea wanderers because they always wander the sea. However, aside from their unique characteristic as people of the sea, the Bajo are also known as Muslims. Therefore, Islam is an important element of their identity, either reflected in their daily life or written in the manuscript Lontarak Assalenna Bajo as the form of self-narration of their cultural history. Islam has been accepted through a continual process of negotiation and development.The Bajo people were not Muslim before they became sea wanderes. They received the influence of Islam from the land-bound people surrounding them as a result of interactions between the two groups.

BIOFILIA DAN NEKROFILIA: ANALISIS SOSIOLOGI SASTRA NOVEL LA BÊTE HUMAINE KARYA EMILE ZOLA
Shahab, Ali
Using the genetic structural analysis suggested by Lucien Goldmann, it has been shown that EmileZola, an adherent of naturalism, has managed to expose a distinctive world view through the mediationof his work bring La bête humaine. Through his career as an author who fully engaged in the social andpolitical life of his time, Zola firmly demonstrated a world view different than contemporary rulers. Hisinvolvement in the political field, his support and empathy for the weak who became victims of an unjustcapitalist system, and his commitment to the truth in which he believed, produced changes in the socialand political fields. This is evident from the contemporary recognition of social rights of workers and therelease of Alfred Dreyfus from prison. PERTUMBUHAN MEGAURBAN KEDUNGSEPUR
Wilonoyudho, Saratri
Over the last 20 years many urban areas have experienced dramatic growth, as a result of rapid population increase and the trans formation of the world economy because of a combination of rapid technological and political change. In the case of Kedungsepur, the area has seen more than twofold growth. Migrants come to the inner zones from both the area's core and elsewhere in the country. Net migration, in many case, contributes as much as two thirds of the population growth in these zones, whereas in the city cores, net migration contributes little to growth. A comprehensive model suggests that urbanization in Kedungsepur is influenced by structural and social demographic factors. Thus, the balance between managing urban discharges to the environment and enhancing environmental resource capacity is the key determinant of sustainability.

CIVIC PLURALISM: KEMBALINYA OTORITAS KERAGAMAN SIPIL
Saputro, Endy

Dayanti, Liestianingsih Dwi
Women Violence; Resistance; Film and Discourse;
Mereka Bilang Saya Monyet, a movie by woman director Djenar Maesa Ayu, was a film about women with a different perspective. This movie reveals a discourse on both violence and women’s resistance against it. The dimensions shown included psychological, physical, and sexual violence between parents and their child, an adult men with his daughter, and adult men with adult women. Violence appears because of the unbalanced relationship between subject and object. The effects of this violence can take the form of fear, anger, or a feeling of inferiority and unworthiness, and the victim feels encouraged to act on it. Discourse related to gender-based violence is a result of a patriarchal cultural construction. In the film, resistance was portrayed through the victim’s suffering, anger, and physical resistance. Women directors perceived these issues from a different perspective. It is not enough to understand violence against women only from the normative perspective of law and social obligation. This issue must be understood by positioning women as the subject (survivor) and recognizing that violence against women is a crime against humanity.

PERFORMATIVITAS GENDER DAN SEKSUALITAS DALAM WEBLOG LESBIAN DI INDONESIA
Setyorini, Ari
Weblog; Lesbian; Gender; Sexuality; Performativity;
This study is aimed to know how gender and sexuality are performed in weblogs belonging to Indonesian lesbians. This research is particularly purposed to identify the ideological meaning behind the performative identity of lesbian bloggers, and also to measure hir resistance against subordination. This is a multidis-ciplinary-based qualitative research using Foucault’s concepts of power relations and technology of the self (as elaborated in History of Sexuality) and Butler’s theory of performativity. This study then applies Fairclough’s analytical method of Critical Discourse Analysis (CDA). This research takes Fried Durian, an Indonesian lesbian weblog, as its corpus.The result of the research confirms that the identification of lesbian identity tends to be the combination of femininity and masculinity. Through the process of crisscrossing, a lesbian performs hirself by doing “stage performativity”, embedding the identification of feminine and masculine identity through hir appearance, clothing, gesture, and sexuality. Thus, a lesbian blogger is a creative producer in which zie transforms the heteronormative discourse.

Tantu Panggělaran; Multiculturalism; Syncretism;
Tantu Panggělaran (TP) is a work of literature that contains knowledge necessary for human beings to achieve perfection of living which is influenced by Javanese, Hindu (Shivaist), and Buddhist concepts. This research studies syncretism in the text of TP by using the theory of normative multiculturalism. The purpose of this research is to find out how syncretism occurred in people’s lives, as recorded in the text of TP. It is hoped this research can benefit the development of Javanese culture in general, and particularly Old Javanese culture from the late Majapahit era. The results show that TP is the implementation of cultural syncretism of Javanese, Hindu (Shivaist), and Buddhist cultures in a positive, mutualistic relationship.

KODE ETIK JURNALISTIK DALAM PRAKTIK FOTOJURNALISME: KASUS KAMPANYE PEMILIHAN PRESIDEN 2009 DI INDONESIA
Yuniar, Ririt
Code of Ethics; Journalistic Photo; Campaign of Election of the President; Indonesia;
Journalistic photos appear in newspapers for news purposes. In many cases, many parties are interested in using the mass media for their own vested interests. The photos of the Presidential and Vice-Presidential candidates in the 2009 Indonesian election were examples of such uses. These photos contained symbols which were manipulated and presented in the public sphere. Hence, these photos also reflected power relations within Indonesian society, a society which is full of individual interests. This study attempts to show how the photojournalism appearing in the media during the 2009 election time was intensively used by the candidates, who were also the capital backers. The photos were not presented as they were, but rather composed upon the candidates’ request for the purposes of image building. For several reasons, including media survival in the global era and its heavy competition and pragmatic motivations, some media have shown a loss of “independency.” This study also shows that journalistic photos record the existence of values and interests of those appearing on newspaper. The 2009 Presidential and Vice Presidential campaign in Indonesia, one framed in photojournalism, is a social reality analogous to social theatre or a theatrical performance.

REGIONAL AUTONOMY PROLIFERATION OF REGION AND PSEUDO LOCAL GOVERNMENT IN INDONESIA
Imron, M. Ali
Regional Autonomy; Proliferation of region; Black market; Rent seeking; and Pseudo local government
This paper discusses the other side of the potential negative effects, even failure, of the implementation of the decentralization policy in Indonesia. One cause of the demands to establish a new area is rent seeking, where local elites and local politicians try to regain power through the formation of new regions. One thing overlooked by scholars is the existence of local businessmen who also participated in the formation of new regions. Their presence did not appear as real as the local elites and party elites because they take roles behind the scenes as lenders; the group was later referred to as the “black market.” The existence of this black market in the regional areas is always necessary for an area’s local elites and political elites to regain power as one force.

Towani Tolotang; Discrimination; Religion and State Relation;
This paper aims to analyze the legal position of Towani Tolotang in the case of restrictions on religion in Indonesia. This paper is based on research toward the Towani Tolotang community in the Sidenreng Rappang Regency. Towani Tolotang is a local religion that continues to survive despite attempts to disband its followers, efforts which come not only from groups which disagree with the religion’s existence, but is also from the state. The discrimination experienced by followers of Towani Tolotang comes from two directions: first, from the public in the form of assumptions which denounce them, and second, from the government through a variety of regulations which limit the space for followers of Towani Tolotang to develop its teachings.

QUO-VADIS MULTIKULTURALISME DALAM HISTORIS DAN HISTORIOGRAFI SENI RUPA INDONESIA
Kasiyan, Kasiyan
Quo-vadis; Multiculturalism; Historical; Historiography; Fine Art;
The multicultural paradigm has become a frequent topic of discussion as its key values con-cerningthe spirit of respecting differences. The fact that differences are commonly considered a threat in Modernistphilosophy has led particularity space becoming increasingly negated. In an Indonesian context,multiculturalism has a long historical basis, one tied inexorably with the nation’s nature as an absoluteconstructed from plural complexity. Hence, multiculturalism should be involved in every cultural activity,at any time and in any context, including the Fine Arts. Within this discipline, multiculturalism hasbeen the main concern, considering that the Fine Arts deal with creativity and aesthetic terminologieswhich cannot be separated from the discussion of differences. What then becomes the main concern is thefact that this multicultural aspect has unconsciously become a quo-vadis reality in other cultural mainstreams.

Policy; Poverty; social Resistance;
The government's implementation of various forest management policies often fails to protect forest and reduce the number of poor communities around it. This study aims to discover disctimination in forest management oplicies issued and implementation by the State, the erultant structural proverty, and social resistance from by communities within and around forest conservation areas. this study was a qualitative one using a descriptive analytical approach conducted at the State level, Husserl's phenomenology at an individual level and Berger at collective level. The location of the result of the study indicate that the logging done by the local community was due to their displeasure with the goverment's policies, considered discriminatory in their application to the timber company and community. Implementation of deliberative policy to resolve conflicts between the government and Atar Lebar community int the TNBBS forest conservation area is necessary for the resolution of the socio-structural problems in Atar Lebar

Keywords: The Region Growth, The Ecology Carrying Support, Tourism Region
The growth of tourist regions often indicates a decline of the environmental carrying capacity, includingthe confl ict regarding the use of space and its carrying capacity. The uncontrolled spatial growth andresources use is the result of the increasingly development-oriented policy which cause damage toenvironmental functions. Consideration of the use of space and natural resources advantage is needed inorder to properly consider the issue of carrying capacity. Research is needed to defi ne the proper use oftraffi c signals in connection with the above problem; it is alsoimportant to analyze the region’s carryingcapacity, which can defi ne its maximum tolerance and fl exibility of capacity. The long-term purpose isto improve tourists’ satisfaction with the area. There are (2) two variables considered: (1) the regionalgrowth; (2) the ecological carrying capacity. This article is a literary research and preliminary examination to a unique interaction between Jews and Sufism that taken place in medieval Islamic ruling. In the face of the present antagonistic posture of Jews and Muslims relationship that dominates the public sphere, in history, there are some examples of interaction of the two people beyond confictual narrative. One of them is Jewish mysticism that adopted Sufism into their spiritual ideal, which took place in the medieval era. We might call the phenomenon tentatively as “Jewish Sufism.”

GENDER JUSTICE AND CULTURAL DIMENSION OF RELIGION, A PROPOSAL TO APPLY THE PROPHETIC TRADITION (THE HADITH) IN PROMOTING GENDER JUSTICE AMONG INDONESIAN MUSLIMS
Kodir, Faqihuddin Abdul
Islam; culture; hadith; gender equality; and interpretation;
By arguing that religion as interpretative culture of people in their context, suggested by Clifford Geertz, this paper proposes an interpretation-oriented approach to the texts of the hadith of the Prophet Muhammad rather than a critical-deconstructive approach. The interpretation-oriented approach focuses on positive reading towards the hadith that advocates issues of gender justice; whether through selecting classical methods of interpretation or applying contemporary methods suggested by progressive Muslims. As this approach does not challenge the authority of the hadith, which is accepted culturally by majority of Muslims as second source after the Quran, cultural works for gender justice are assumed to be relatively more flexible and can be further maximized. By doing so, I argue that this cultural dimension of religion –accepting its sources and working on the field of interpreting them-should be considered in promoting gender justice among Indonesian Muslims.

MEMBANGUN PARIWISATA BERSAMA RAKYAT: KAJIAN PARTISIPASI LOKAL DALAM MEMBANGUN DESA WISATA DI DIENG PLATEAU
Raharjana, Destha Titi
Community; Participation; Tourism; Rural Tourism; Dieng Plateau;
Development as a process of life change should involve communities as intergral elements. People should not only be regarded as objects of development. The paradigm of the bottom up planning expects people to act as both the subject and object of development. In the context of the development of rural tourism, the planning process should involve the local communities from the beginning. Dieng Plateau as a tourist site has a diversity of attractions, and tourist-oriented villages are designed by local communities to complement the tourist attractions in Dieng. This Study focuses on the participation of the communities in western Dieng in developing tourist villages in their area.Various stages of the planning are completed collectively and then put into action together. By applying action research methods, this study has the following results: (1) the identi cation of problems in the development of rural tourism, (2) the mapping of the potential of rural tourism, and (3) the identi cation of potential inter-agency networking to support sustainable rural tourism in western Dieng.

IDENTITAS KAUM SAMIN PASCA KOLONIA PERGULATAN NEGARA, AGAMA, DAN ADAT DALAM PRO-KONTRA PEMBANGUNAN PABRIK SEMEN DI SUKOLILO, PATI, JAWA TENGAH
Aziz, Munawir
Samin; cement; identical a politics; pasca-colonial;
Memmories of colonization have created an ethos of daily struggle among the followers of Saminism. Encounters with colonialism in the early 20 th century impacted Samins’ character, ethos, and worldview, as demonstrated through their way of dealing with the Indonesian government, corporations, and other communities. This impact is evident in the case of the establishment of the Semen Gresik factory in Sukolilo, Pati, Central Java. The project plan of establishing a cement factory and exploration of Kendeng Mountain at Sukolilo created con ict among the people of Pati. The people were divided into two groups. The rst supported the exploration and the second resisted. Samins, however, resisted it and stood against it for their environment. This article examines the Samins actions when dealing with outside powers, in this case the State and the cement corporation. It also studies how the Samins constructed their post-colonial worldview and identity in response to the state, religion, and capitalism. Using Gayatri sivak’s theory of “subalternity”, this article explains identity politics of the post-colonial Samin Movement.

Liwa and rayah; Hizb ut-Tahrir Indonesia Yogyakarta; semiotic aesthetics; historical context; cultural context;
This paper discusses on ags used by Hizb ut-Tahrir Indonesia Yogyakarta (HTI DIY). This organization uses two types of ag: liwa and rayah. The color of the liwa is white and the color of the rayah is black. Upon both the profession of faith (shahada) is written in Arabic Calligraphy. Historically speaking, the Prophet Muhammad used the liwa and the rayah. Politically speaking, both ags are intended for use as the ag of the nwe caliphate to which HizbI ut-Tahrir (HT) aspires. HTI DIY con rms that liwa and rayah are not their ags but ags of Islam. The semiotic aesthetics study of the ags includes the study of aesthetic object, aesthetic values, and aesthetics experience. As aesthetic objects, the liwa and rayah show varieties. Aesthetic values of those ags consist of a symbolic value, one which refers to Islam and the Caliphate; iconic value, i.e.the imitation of the Prophet Muhammad’s ags; and indexical value indicating the activity of the HTI DIY. Aesthetic experiences of the ags experienced by the HTI DIY activists are in the form of the emotional effects.

TREN PEMIKIRAN INTELEKTUAL MUSLIM KONTEMPORER DI TIMUR TENGAH PASCA-DIFITISME 1967
Yoyo, Yoyo
Muslim intellectuals; the Arab defeat; and self-criticism ideologies;
This article is an effort to make a clear map on contemporary Muslim intellectuals in the Middle East after the Arab defeat in 1967. The Six-Day War took place in June 1967 was a disaster for the Arab world. It ended the ideology of Pan-Arab nationalism and encouraged the rise of four compating self-criticism ideologies: Marxism, Liberalism, Fundamentalism and Nationalism. The four ideologies have their own particular responses and solutions to the Arab crisis. The result of this research shows that Islamic fundamentalism is still the strongest ideology compared to the secular ideologies. The Arab Spring in 2011 proved the fact and paved a way for the Islmists to become dominant in the political arena, as recently shown in Egypt. The other Islamist militant groups, such as Jama’ah Islamiyyah are now more free to promote the implementation of Islamic syari’ah.

ECONOMYTHS: HOW THE SCIENCE OF COMPLEX SYSTEMS IS TRANSFORMING ECONOMIC THOUGT
Akyuwen, Roberto

PENGEMBANGAN MADRASAH BERPARADIGMA PEMBANGUNAN BERKELANJUTAN

Islamic Education, Madrasah and Sustainable Development
This study aims to discover learning innovation for education for sustainable development (EfSD) that canbring sustainability regarding resources, the environmental, social and cultural. EfSD can teach morality tohuman beings as actors in their environment, pushing them to always be careful and wise in every activitythat uses natural resources. The use of natural resources for the development is not only to meet short-termeconomic needs; it is therefore necessary to establish mana gement strategies that ensure sustainability, fairness,and effi ciency. Efforts to achieve these strategies are mediated by interviewing people regarding environmentethical values, which in this case were implemented in children’s education. The results of this research showthat: (1) developing sustainable, development-paradigmatuc learning innovations must comply with the talentsof students, which can be done by developing KTSP (curriculum for unit-level education); (2) the conservationof socio-cultural value is the basis to achieve a sustainable development paradigm; (3) innovations necessaryfor the creation of a sustainable development paradigm vary for each school background. This innovationis expected to guarantee the realization of a sustainable development paradigm in formal education; for thesake of intergenerational environment conservation.

BUDAYA NASIONAL DI TENGAH PASAR: KONSTRUKSI, DEKONSTRUKSI, DAN REKONSTRUKSI
Setiawan, Ikwan
National Culture, Regime’s Perspective, Construction, Deconstruction, Reconstruction, Neoliberalism.
In the Reformation period, the state regime still mobilizes traditional-ideal values as national culturewithout giving conceptual and operational explanations. In this article, I combine two approaches,cultural studies and postcolonial studies, for reading national culture as represented in some PresidentSoesilo Bambang Yudhoyono’s presidential speeches. I will analyze ideal-but-ambivalent constructionsof national culture in regime’s perspective as represented in those speeches, particularly, in the contextof continuous of national culture in regime’s perspective in those speeches, particularly, in the context ofthe government’s continuous mobilization of traditional meanings as the invisible power for Indonesianpeople, while, at the same time,placing emphasis on economic progress.Instead of a strategic culturalconstruction, national culture produces its own deconstruction and fails to be discursive formation.Further, I argue that the regime operates their governmentality by reconstructing newer nationalculture based on market economics as discursive constructions, which ideally can provide conceptualand material basis for state regime in conducting governance and for citizens in achieving welfare inneoliberal formation.

LANJUT USIA: ANTARA TUNTUTAN JAMINAN SOSIAL DAN PENGEMBANGAN PEMBERDAYAAN
Sriyanto, Eko
Elderly, Social Security, Empowerment, Psychosocial Vulnerability
Social service and social security for elderly in 2010 only covered 143.131 person (Direktorat PSLU,2010) from expectation to serve 2,4 million elderly, whether it is poor and neglected elderly (BPS, 2010).Government capacity to serve social service and social security is limited, so it needs a new strategyto keep the sustainability of elderly’s life. We must have alternative way to assist them to solve theirpsychosocial and physical vulnerability through empowerment scheme. The psychosocial vulnerabilityof elderly is vulnerability that comprise from economic, social and psychological aspects so that it needscomprehensive understanding to make a program for them. Empowering the elderly will create activitythat will be advantageous for them to use the leisure, create social relationship, decrease felt of loneliness,keep reciprocal relationships with their social environment, increase income, and build their capacity inboth health and skills. The development of a sense of empowerment must consider several aspecteds,including environmental characteristics, social-demographic structures, and cross-generational actors.Alternatives for empowerment programs include productive activities (care housing and non-carehousing) and social activities (volunteering).

The purpose of this study is to identify the measurement models that appropriate to measure psychologicalattributes toward psychological scale. Measurement models that includes is parallel, tau-equivalent andcongeneric models. Each model has different assumptions according to each item’s precision and scalemeasuring on psychological scale. As a sample of psychological scale, this study uses Child DepressionInventory (CDI) and Rosenberg Self-Esteem Scale. Data was taken from the 3.183 adolescents from juniorand senior high school in DIY, with ages ranging from 15 to 19. Both scale were tested using the HotellingT2 test for testing the equality of mean and variance as well as confi rmatory factory analysis throughstructural equation modeling to rest the accuracy of the model. This study found that psychological scalestend to fi t better with the congeneric model than others. The congeneric model is one which assumesthat every item in a scale has a different precision and scale of measure. Therefore, it is concluded thatitems tend to be measured in psychological attributes, with relative variation.

Strategy; Development; Human resources;
There are 24 marine tourism destinations in Ende District that have not been managed well enough. To improve tourism development, some management strategies should be taken by stakeholders. First, the government should make some policies that give opportunities and easy access to stakeholders. Scond, the government should make a development planning for the potential destinations. Third, they should make plans that would give information about the most potential destination. Fourth, the government and marine communities should prepare human resource in management. At last, the government should promote those marine tourism destinations continuosly.

NEGARA, ISLAM, DAN NASIONALISME SEBUAH PERSPEKTIF

State; Islam; Nationalism; new order; reformation; democracy; institution; conflict;
What happens with ‘’Reformasi’’ (the Reform Movement/ Era)? After tha fall of Soeharto’s New Order regime, Indonesia come into chaotic situation with many religious and ethnic conflicts. Separatism has erupted and corruption has been so rampant. The “door” of democracy opens, and both Islamists and nationalists take part in the political game. The results have been, however, transactional politics, bad governance and uncertainty. A question should be raiseed: is it irreconcilable between the nationalists and the islamists? What is happening when the political games are plyed by both parties is basically the competition of corruption. They are stealing “people resources and welth of the nation”. Islamists do the same as the nationalists stealing power (corruption). The business world is corrupted. Businessmen are in collusion with politicians, rulers, and bureaucrats. They do not care anymore about the fate of the people and the country.

Inclusivism; exclusivism; synonymy; and hyponymy;
Potentially, both inclusivism and exclusivism can emerge from Islam itself. To an extreme point, inclusive point of view underline the importance to apprecieate religious pluralism and to avoid truth claims. To the other extreme, exlusive point of view suspect and even reject pluralism and upholds truth claims. Islam may be presented by the two extremes, and it is not only because of defferent emphasis in reading the holy texts, but also because of defferent methodologies of interpretation being employed. This paper discusses different methodologi of interpretation that determinate significantly the meaning of dīn, millah and syarī’ah and how they are related. The one that uses the relation of synonymy avoid ta’ārud al-adillah reading (the dispute among axioms) so leads to inclusive comprehension. The other using the relation of hyponymy between din and syarī’ah leads to ta’arud reading, uses of nasikh wa al-mansūkh method (abrogation), and so leads to exclusive comprehension.

KONSEP MAKRIFAT MENURUT AL-GHAZALI DAN IBNU ‘ARABI: SOLUSI ANTISIPATIF RADIKALISME KEAGAMAAN BERBASIS EPISTEMOLOGI

Gnosis; solution; antisipative; radicalism; epistemolgy;
Al-Ghazali (1058-1111) is Sunni sufi representing Islamic mysticism and Ibnu Arabi (1165-1240) represents philosophical Sufism. Al- Ghazali’s concept of Gnosis (knowing God) is based on the Quran and Hadith which is similar to its predecessor, al asy’ari. In contrast, Ibnu Arabi’s concept of Gnosis is based on Greek philosophy and the school of Bathiniyah (Syiah). The fundamental difference between the two scholars is that Al-Ghazali is consistent with classical model of epistemological interpretation. He is very cautious in preventing understanding Islam (the sunni view) especially on aqidah (faith) from polytheism (musyrik) or infidelity (kafir). Meanwhile, Ibnu Arabi explores a variety of sources: Greek philosophy, school of shi’i Bathiniyah, and other sources with contempory interpretation paradigms whose characteristics are pluralistic, multicultural and universal, and gives more priority to welfare and justice. Even though the paradigm used by Al-Ghazali differs from the one employed by I bnu Arabi,they agree in some points. There are similarities in their paradigms and understandings. Al- Ghazali even justifies the righteousness of paradigm deployed by Ibnu arabi. Reflections of the two scholars’ paradigms bear the main principles of mysticism. Al-Ghazali develops it with tahalli, takhalli, and tajalli, while Ibnu Arabi in addition to the three of Al Ghazali develops it with the teaching of wahdatul wujud.

Ambiguity; press democracy; dilemma; bureaucratic press;
This study aims to analyze the dilemma in the bureaucratic press Tabloid Komunika (TK) of the Ministry of Communication and Information Technology of the Republic of Indonesia. TK chosen as the study site because it was published by government institution formerly known as Ministry of Information, which very repressive to the press in New Order era. The study uses case study approach reinforced by survey and content analysis methods. From the results of the study found, most graphic indicator of the freedom of journalists, public sphere openess, and the determination of the content, showed a random trend, while the freedom of access and opportunity of expression showed a rising trend. Inconsistencies in the implementation of elements of press democracy showed the dilemma in TK. Factors causing a dilemma in TK are: inconsistent leadership, unclear structure and functions of TK’s organization, and uncertainty management attitude. Bureaucratic power pressure lead TK’s organizers confused to divide partisanship to the community or the government. Dilemma in TK causes ambiguous contents, more actualized public opinion but the tone of articles are neutral toward the government.

MENYAMBUT ERA KEBANGKITAN AGAMA
Ahnaf, Mohammad Iqbal
Pada tahun 1998 ia mengeluarkan buku berjudul The Desecularization of the World: A Global Overview (1999) yang dimaksudkan untuk merevisi teori dia sebelumnya bahwa seiring modernisasi agama akan semakin kehilangan relevansi.

A HISTORICAL NARRATIVE AND CRITICAL ANALYSIS OF THE ROOTS AND CAUSES OF CONFLICT IN THE SOUTHERN PHILIPPINES
Narciso, Jerson Benia
Root of conict, cause of conict, Southern Philippines, historical narrative, critical analysis
This paper highlights a chronology of signicant historical events since pre-colonial times up to the present that have signicantly contributed to the conict in Southern Philippines. It also describes and analyzes the roots and causes of the conict and how these are being addressed at the moment both by the Philippine government and the different Islamic liberationist groups who are the main actors and players in the conict.This paper employs both historical and structural analysis to obtain a much broader and complete picture of the historical as well as socio-political, cultural, and economic realities reigning in the Southern Philippines. The study shows that the problem of conict in Mindanao is quite complex and complicated. Thus, it requires a much broader and careful understanding and analysis of the problem, as well as solutions that can be agreed upon by contending groups and factions toward a peaceful and negotiated approach to the Mindanao peace process.

THE POLITICS OF RELIGION THE INVENTION OF “AGAMA” IN INDONESIA
Hidayah, Sita
“agama”, “adat”, “kepercayaan”, citizenship, anthropology
“Agama” (English: Religion) is a heavily loaded word in Indonesia imbued with a simplistic view that the discourse of “agama” is especially about morality but which is also politically motivated by power interests. The simplicity of the argument is not that it is incorrect, but the valid questions here are: “what the meaning of “agama” isas informed by ethnographies of adat communities, historical archives, media reports, and Indonesian state policies?”This paper examines the ‘condition of possibility’ of the emergence of the discourse of “agama” in Indonesia. Foucault’s theoretical framework is used to investigate the invention of “agama” in Indonesia.Here I limit the discussion to the historical and sociological beliefs and practices that make “agama” possible and focus on “agama” as an operational category in Indonesian politics.This paper links the discourse on “agama” with the discussion of citizenship. Signicant inuence of the discourse of “agama” in the Indonesian systems of government, I argue, has become the most powerful force informing the concept of citizenship in Indonesia. The production of state’s denition of the term “agama” was a rupture marking the construction of a new ‘eld of control’ in the way in which it creates, registers, categorizes, and controls Indonesians’ citizenship; thus citizenship is reinforced or subverted by this specic meaning of “agama”.The formalization of “agama” and regularitiesof the formalized “agama” has consistently been appropriated to legitimate the adoption of every so often violent measures targeting religious minorities in Indonesia. This paper will also highlight the relationship between the discourse of “agama” and the political exclusion of religious minorities in Indonesia

BEYOND EPISTEMOLOGICAL RELIGIOUS TRUTH A REFLECTION OF THE OTHER OUTSIDE “TRUE-FALSE” CATEGORY
Purwadi, Yohanes Slamet
Epistemological religious truth, existential religious truth, Ricoeur’s hermenutics, linguistic model of translation, meaning, self- understanding, the others
The aim of this paper is to investigate the problematic and dynamic of ‘religious truth’, put into the context of religious freedom in today’s Indonesia. Generally speaking, the dominant discourse of religious truth in Indonesia is heavily determined by epistemological knowledge and understanding. In everyday language, through which this knowledge is produced and distributed, some epistemological categories, such as ‘deviant-believer’, ‘true- false’, and even ‘blasphemy’- are commonly applied. Here, in the problem lies these categorizations might open up possibility for the xation of ‘truth’, which in turn, inclines to subordinate what generically refer to as ‘the other’Seeking an alternative, this paper attemptsto develop more favorable and inclusive religious understanding, which indebted to the mode of existential religious understanding including linguistic model of translation. Employing Ricouerian’s hermeneutics, this mode of existential understanding offers valuable critique to the monopoly and orthodoxy of religious truth. Moving further, it promotes the others as an interpretative horizon and a ‘circling way’, through which we enrich our religious understanding, as well as self-understanding.

This perspective is very useful to understand the multidemensional and exible characteristic of identity. Identity cannot be regarded in homogen and stable way of understanding. That awarenes in turn, helps to build respect toward the other, something that is needed in multicultural society.

KOMODIFIKASI WARGA DALAM RUANG CITIZEN JOURNALISM
Nasrullah, Rulli
citizen journalism, audience, commodication, new media, self-commodity
The citizen journalism has been inuenced not only by organization culture of media and news criteria, but also the position of citizens. This entire time citizens are merely a consumers and their position is passive to information produced by traditional media. With the emergence of citizen journalism, now the citizens not only become news consumers but also act as news producers and consumers at the same time (produsage). The commodication of citizen journalism is a phenomenon of counter commidication done by the companies of traditional media. This shown that there are symptoms of attracting each other in the room (market) of citizen journalism that the citizens do not always react passively to the exposure of media and become a commodity by traditional media companies or the advertiser, but they also commodify anything as whatever they want to reach. Thus, this research is a rebutting the denition of citizen journalism popularized by Curt Chandler and Jesse Hicks from Penn State University who said that citizen journalism is citizens activities in publishing a content because of their interest to a case without economic motive or personal gain.

RELASI KUASA DALAM PRAKTIK SUKUR BUMI
Heriyawati, Yanti
Sukur Bumi, power, ritual, society, government
This writing is a study on the form of power relations in Sukur Bumi as a cultural practice. Sukur Bumi is a sacred ritual activity conducted by the people in Rancakalong as a gratitude of their harvest. Power is not only meant as authority and hegemony, but also as symbolic power. The power has its power to construct knowledge and truth. The power relation is in three level, that is, between the society and Sukur Bumi, the government and the society, and between the society, Sukur Bumi, and the government. In the end, Sukur Bumi has its own power. Its meaning and symbols has the power to control the society and the government. Without Sukur Bumi, both the government and the society do not have their sphere to construct the power.

AGAMA NELAYAN: ISLAM LOKAL DI TANAH MANDAR
Idaman, Idaman
budaya Mandar

The study is conducted in rural tourism Jatiluwih, Tabanan Regency, Bali. The process ofcollecting data through the studi literature, in-depth interviews and non-participant observation. The analyticalmethod used is descriptive analysis. The result of the research indicates that the development of rural tourismin Jatiluwih still does not yet involve the local community. The role of government seems dominant, but whenreferring to the clean and sustainable governance approach, the role of the government is expected to becomea facilitator by providing bigger opportunity to take part as well as the benets from the development to thelocal community. It is required the political will of the government to reduce the dominant role in developingrural tourism, through opening wider space for the community to participate.

This researchnds that the structures and patterns of leadership and power of Kyai within pesantren are strong inwhich kyai is positioned as the main gure. It can be seen on how a kyai build his strategic role as thenon-formal leader in society through intensive communication with the people. The charisma of a kyaialso gains people’s support, to some extents, caused by his moral stability and faith quality. This processat rst starts from the nearest group around the pesantren and then spread out to distant places.

THE LEGITIMAZATION OF VIOLENCE AGAINST THE AHMADIYYA COMMUNITY IN INDONESIA

Ahmadiyah, FPI, Legitimatization of Violence, State Patronage, Decentralization
The Ahmadiyah community in Indonesia has experienced increasing infringement on their religiousfreedom in various forms during the last ten years. The opening up of democracy in 1998 resultedin the involvement of “non state actors “in religious violence. Despite increasing attacks against theAhmadiyah community, the state has been reluctant to prevent or punish religious attacks against theAhmadiyah community. In this article I argue that violence against the Ahmadiyah is in danger ofbecoming legitimate.

PEREMPUAN DAN NEGARA: KAJIAN FEMINIS DALAM KONTEKS SOSIAL “BH” KARYA AGUS NOOR
Woodrich, Chris
Agus Noor, BH, New Order (Criticism of), Censorship, Feminism
The struggle of the oppressed to obtain their rights is never complete. There is always someone who ismarginalized. In his short story “BH” Agus Noor presents a young woman who is ultimately killed by her bra, a garment which had repeatedly groped her breasts previously. At the surface this unrealistic story appears to be a simple critique against the repression of women. However, when placed against the socio-political backdrop in which it was written, namely that of the repressive New Order government under President Suharto, it is readily apparent that the oppression of women is used as a symbol of the general oppression and censorship in New Order Indonesia. In the New Order, as presented by Agus Noor, the aged (and thus empowered) forces used a familial form of “anakisme” to subjugate the general populace and thus ensure that the general populace cannot efciently overturn the power structure. This reading reminds us that women’s struggle for recognition and equality cannot be divorced from the struggles of other oppressed classes, which must ght for their rights and often collaborate for a greater effect.

SENI DOLALAK PURWOREJO JAWA TENGAH: PERAN PEREMPUAN DAN PENGARUH ISLAM DALAM SENI PERTUNJUKAN
Santosa, Djarot Heru
Dolalak Dance, Performig Arts, Women, and Community
The role of women artists in the performing arts, also within the arts as well as the other broader life, inIndonesia, seems to be strengthening in recent years. It doesn’t mean that it is a new issue, of course. Butperhaps it happened since Indonesia experiencing and witnessing a great change of mainstream withinit self since 1998; this issue, as well as the other critical issues gaining a more free momentum and spaceof expression. Of course, this still needs further scrutinization. The superiority of women is not limitedto the mith in which giving special space for them, but indeed women have strong key role as the escortof performing arts. Women have the central key in promoting traditional arts; however, there is womenrole shift in the stage of performing arts. Women artists in the culture posseses inevitable duality ofposition. They are praised as high as the sky, in the other hand they are also insulted, abused, and usedas a profit-making commodity. Besides their beautiful manner and behaviour, women are also capableof breaking through the boundary of culture. Women as the mother earth who’s also identical withthe symbol of fertility, paragon, and the parameter of values and norms that is expected by the socialcommunity, are also capable of fulfilling the promises attached into the miths that praise and adorethem. Therefore, it is their nature that they have the central role in the success of a performing art bothtraditional and modern. Serious problems in the world of performing arts occur when women artists tryto promote tradition. Inner conflict uccur between their basic nature and their environemntal condition.In this case, pressures are not only coming from the social environment but also from within. In fact,the soul of tradition survives and sustain from their very hands. When the stage experiences shift, therole of women as the escort of the tradition is also fading. Performance industry does properly placestage women as a subject but only as a commodity to attarct the market for the capitalists. Together, weshould be able to solve this problem if we still want women to attend in the world of performing artsand change the world into a more colorful one.

Nasrullah, Rulli
Greimas’ semiotic, Muslim fashion, Advertisement, Image, Brand
Muslim Fashion has transformed to be cultural industry profitable financially. The flourish of Muslimfashion producers certainly needs business strategy to promote the products. Advertisement becomesone of promotional tools that can communicate product excellence. Moreover advertisement in massmedia gives space for producer to visualize image of product wanted especially when the advertisementis promoted in Muslim mass media. In semiotic tradition, advertisement does not only communicateproduct for sale but it has ideology constructed by both advertiser and advertising company in order toestablish in consumers’ thought including Muslim fashion that is no longer clothes for covering body inaccordance with Islamic syariah. Narrative semiotics can be understood as effort of recounting or rereada subject from overall text or message to view narrative or plot from signs in this case, it is advertisement.Advertisement basically is assumed as a narrative that tells certain meanings therefore advertisement iscreated also published through media in order to influence readers. In Greimas’ opinion, advertisementis considered as text that has actant that becomes model or subject organizing plot in a text as destinator/sender, receiver, subject, object and also adjuvant even traitor/resistor. By using Greimasian semiotic,this research reveals latent meaning inside Muslim fashion advertisement that shows Muslim fashionproduced by Muslim house especially ZeaTM Zenura brand basically not only just communicating Muslimfashion advertisement but also constructing myths that the fashion is Muslim fashion for family and verysuitable to wear in special events such as Muslim celebration day, Idul Fitri 1433 H

AKSIOLOGI TARI BEDHAYA KRATON YOGYAKARTA
Sunaryadi, Sunaryadi
Axiology, Bedhaya, Ethical, and Aesthetic
Bedhaya at Palace dance was originally a sacred dance that is laden with symbols of life because it’snot just a dance movement, but an action that is displayed and that becomes the life reference. Bedhayais presented as a mirror of Javanese culture axiological which includes ethical and aesthetic values . Itis a reflection of manunggaling kawula-Gusti in terms of its ethical dimension and it has the aestheticvalues of the motion, fashion, and makeup. Bedhaya dance philosophy is summaried in the doctrineof ngelmu sangkan paran covering three things: the first it’s related to the human consciousness thatcomes from God (urip iki saka sapa); the second, it is irelated to the duties and obligations of humanbeings in the world (urip iki arep apa); and the third, it is related to man’s return to his Lord (urip ikipungkasane piye). Therefore, in the moral ethics context, Javanese life purpose is how to be a good manto reach the manunggaling kawula with Gusti as it is believed that goodness and beauty (mind) are themanifestation of the Essence of the Most Holy. The journey of human life portrayed in lampah bedhayaof majeng beksa , beksa to mundur beksa is a role model to determine the choice between good and bad .

DISTRO SEBAGAI PROVIDER GAYA HIDUP “ALTERNATIF”: MENENGOK STRATEGI DISTRO DALAM USAHANYA MEMPERTAHANKAN EKSISTENSI
Derajat, Zakiyah
Distro, Youth, Indie, Capitalism, Brand.
Distro (distribution outlet/distribution store), with its DIY (Do-It-Yourself) and independent ethos, hasever been so popular in Yogyakarta as youth’s field to express their self. Decade passed, youth changed,distro still exists, but now it is merely the “alternative” of the big (ie. mall). Descriptive qualitative researchbased on field ethnography within May and June 2013, I would discuss the strategy of Demangan distroarea (Jl. Cendrawasih, Yogyakarta), in forming their nowadays identity in order to remain exist. Thediscussion shows that there are some of their stratregies: by converging in one area and structuringdistro region, by interior design, and by not-that-indie (at all) identity. The lower number of distro andits attempt of forming its DIY-ethos-ed youth indicate that the youth are now, to a certain extent, notinterested in producing and distributing. Hence, most of them are no more than the object of capitalism,which is by consuming.

KONFLIK SYI’AH-SUNNI PASCA-THE ARAB SPRING
Sahide, Ahmad
Syi’i-Sunni, Conflict, Middle East, and The Arab Spring.
Conflict of Syi’i-Sunni is the conflict that has long history. The seed of this conflict began since the deathof Prophet Muhamad SAW. In the beginning, this conflict is the political conflict, it related about whowould be the successor of Muhammad’s leadership after his death. However, this conflict was broughtto the religious (aqidah) conflict among the followers of Ali and the followers od Abu Bakar and theother Friends. This conflict has big impact in colouring the history of the Islamic world civilizationwhich is so difficult to be compromised, to the present. Even this conflict participates in colouring thepolitical conflict in the Middle East, mainly the Arab World, since the Arab Spring exploded in the earlyof 2011 last. The Arab Spring doesn’t just make popular the word of democracy in the political discourseof the Middle East, but also the sentiment of Syi’i-Sunni makes hot the political atmosfer. This writingtries to read the history and the development of Syi’i-Sunni conflict in the Middle East contemporerly.

ISLAM AND THE ARAB AWAKENING

PARADOKS DESENTRALISASI PERUMAHAN DI INDONESIA STUDI KASUS KOTA PALEMBANG DAN KOTA PEKALONGAN
Paramita, Mahditia
Paradox, Decentralization Public Housing, Local Government
Housing decentralization not only positions housing sector as regional obligatory, but also triggerspublic expectations upon the improvement of housing conditions. Various weaknesses of centralizedsystem that full of generalization in housing policy makes decentralized system is interpreted as aninnovative renewal process. However, the central government still does a lot of intervention towardhousing program. Limitation happens to local government such as limitation in housing finance,weakness in coordination ability, and less established of local bureaucracy makes intervention fromcentral government in housing program financed by APBN always dominates. The least contributionfrom local government on public housing sector in decentralization era creates paradox. It is caused bythe Ministry of Public Housing (Kemenpera) that cannot perform fully as substitutional institution rolein managing housing in local area. Kemenpera position as ministerial cluster 3 makes them does nothave representative office in local area. Thus, there will be potential of a repeat experience in the past, inform of generalization in housing policy, that complicates the housing problems itself.

TRADITIONAL SILVICULTURE AND ITS OPPORTUNITY IN PRIVATELY OWNED FOREST MENOREH MOUNTAIN-KULONPROGO
Suryanto, Priyono
Agroforestry, Silviculture, Adaptif, Menoreh Mountains
Agroforestry systems (AFS) are emerged to adapt with farmers needs, balancing economic andecological conditions. In recent years, however, there has been shifting from ecology to economy, wheretraditional silviculture emphasizes toward more monoculture with high inputs. This condition willresult in decreasing ecological function of AFS as one of the epitomes of sustainable. This research aimsto know the role of traditional silviculture techniques practiced by farmers and to develop knowledgein AFS management as the basis to compose more productive and sustainable management. Thestudy was conducted in Menoreh mountains, Yogyakarta. There zones based on altitude differenceswere distinguished, namely lowlands (<300 meter above sea level, masl), medium (300-600 masl) andhigh (> 600 masl). Data collecting was done by conducting deep interviews from 46 respondents, whowere chosen randomly in each zone. The data included local knowledge practices, space dynamic andmanagement, traditional silviculture, and orientation of AFS management. The analysis itself was donedescriptively which was integrated through diagnosis approach and design in agroforestry systems.There are there models of AFS management based on there strata of space utilization both in homegardenand dry field, namely initial, intermediate and advanced agroforestry. In the lowland zone is initialagroforestry practicw, characterized by food production orientation. In the middle and upper zone areintermediate and advanced Based on this findings, aproductive and sustainable adaptive silviculture(AS) scheme for AFS management (AS AFS) is required, AS AFS_1 is oriented to keep agroforetybeing able to continualy produce food and its derivatis throughout the management. Intensive spacearrangements and resources sharing silvicuculture measures are important instruments in this model.The second model, AS AFS_2 is for productive intermediate and advanced agroforestry with multilayerproductions. It is suggested in this model to do intensive enrichment planting using tolerant species andcompatible management approach of inter unit lands owned by farmers.

Mujib, Ibnu
Acehnese identity, social space, local wisdom, Aceh revival, dialogue and negotiation
This paper quests the new Acehness identity that inspiring lokal revival in Aceh. Two important thingsthat would support the thesis how the ideas of new Aceh or Aceh revival are formulated from within?At least, the strengthening of public space as a local knowledge base management becomes an importantdiscourse in the course of the indicator measuring the local revival in Aceh. In addition, the process offormation of Acehnese identity is also one of the research questions of this paper, in which this practicehas marked the end of a local revival is being formulated in Aceh. Therefore, the questions about theprocess of dialogue and negotiation as what is growth in Aceh recently, will be discussed in this research.This research shows that the reactualization of public spaces that has been sunk by the conflict or thetsunami, now it is resurrected to turn the social bases that have been lost and even blurred. Whail,local wisdom and its discourse had reached the implementation of the policy through a qonun as aform of maintenance an intellectual heritage of Aceh to be kept alive and implemented. Communalconsciousness constructed by the fact that many of these actors have been integrated through variousforms of dialogue and long negotiation. So don’t be surprised if the recent in-meunasah, gampong orvillage activities turn on the mosque as a center of Islamic studies, and even coffee shops also determinethe direction of Acehnese identity is being created, especially as the idea of Aceh revival.

MENGEJAR PEMIMPIN IDEAL
Rachmanto, Rachmanto
Jokowimemiliki pengalaman panjang dalambirokrasi. Dia juga sosok yang sederhana danmerakyat. Sementara Prabowo adalah sosokyang tegas dan disiplin. Pengalamannyasebagai militer membuatnya pahambagaimana cara menjaga bangsa yang besarini. Maka siapapun pemenangnya, rakyatIndonesia layak untuk optimis akan semakinmakmurnya Bangsa Indonesia dan ketikaKPU akhirnya menetapkan Jokowi sebagaipresiden terpilih, maka rakyat Indonesia punperlu berbangga.

This study is aimed at explain the dynamic process in the development of ecotourism in Bali. Its objectivesare 1) to identify and analyze typologies of ecotourism in Bali, 2) to analyze each type of ecotourism, focusingon the aspects of ecotourism products, local community involvement, and its development strategy, and 3) toanalyze and formulate appropriate model of ecotourism development in Bali. This is a descritive qualitativeresearch with relevant data acquisition techniques, namely (a) in-depth interview, (b) field observation,(c) Focus Group Discussion(FGD), and (d) document studies. The four methods were used to capture theneeds of data in the field, in accordance with scope of the problem investigated and research objectives. Thisstudy found that ecotourism typology in Bali, in terms of its main moving actors (agent of change),is divided into three, namely: (1) investor-driven ecotourism (investor type), (2) community-drivenecotourism (community type), and (3) government-driven ecotourism (government type). This threetypeecotourism in Bali is also known as tri ning tri. In practice, each type of ecotourism has different levelof conformity with ecotourism principles (TIES, 2000), so that they can be categorized into three groups,which are major (utama), intermediate (madya) and contemptible (nista). Some particular Balinese lifestances such as rwa bhineda (dualism), paduwen sareng (common ownership), dan nempahang rage (selfdevotion) enable the different types of ecotourism to live and develop side by side harmonically inBali, without negating each other. Through observation in the micro level, this study found that thecharacteristic of each type tends to shift into hybrid type due to, among others, close interaction withdifferent kinds of stake holders. This also means that the type of ecotourism developed in a village, forexample, will most likely to be modified or improvised in such a way to accommodate the availableresource potency and characteristic of stakeholders involved on its development or management. Theability to manage all forms of ecotourism, which mainly come from outside of Bali, is then combined byBalinese with their life stance of rwa bhineda. Therefore, any ecotourism type or model that comes into,enters and develops in Bali, eventually transforms into a new type of ecotourism.
