Abstract


Eichhornia crassipes is a plant that it is considered as a gulma which able to destroy territorial water environment. Eichhornia crassipes have threatered the source of water that is a human esential requirements, it’s for a daily needs, agriculture, electrical energy, etc. The negative impact need to be balanced with prevention effort, one of the efforts is exploiting as a crafting raw material.

The local community who are poor farmer and have a low in education, only can take eichhornia crassipes stems to be dried (to be dried in the gulsun) becomes a box. Although there was Dane an eichhornia crassipes twisting but its only is done by manual. To fulfill a crafting raw material from an eichhornia crassipes stem, there is needed equipment which can improve string production. Using this equipment, we expect that community can manage eichhornia crassipes to be made a crafting raw material.

The results of the experiment show that machine can produce astring with longer lifetime. On the other hand by using twister machine, it can improve earnings, because time required to twist a string is more efficient.
