PENGGUNAAN BATU BUATAN DARI LIMBAH BATU PUTIH SEBAGAI PENGGANTI BATU ALAM PADA INDUSTRI KERAJINAN BATU UKIR

Abstract

Generally, the rubbish yielded from carved stone (a kind of stalactite from sedimentary rock) is used for back filling on some building or even being thrown. Actually, the demands of the carved stone industry both as the interior and exterior ornaments for beautiful design are increasing, automatically there will be more carved stone rubbish that are not used. Along with increasing production of carved stone, the need of the raw materials will also be increasing, and it will cause the speeding up of environment damage. The research is conducted based on following purposes:

• To make use the rubbish yielded from the rest product of carved stone industry,
• To decrease the mineral group C mining excavation in the effort of saving the environments.
• To create the new material and new innovation incarved stone manufacture industry.

In this research, the researcher used 36 testing cubes in 15 x 15 x 15 cm size as the instruments for testing the pressing power rate of 1, 7 and 28 days, a number of 48 cubes in 7,5 x 7,5 x 7,5 cm size were also used for testing the water absorbing rate, water content, mortar pulling power and mortar depreciation. Eight cylinders forms in 15 cm diameter and 30cm height were incorporated for testing the new Mortar Elasticity Modulus at each variation of mixing 1 Pc : 2 Ag.h, 1 Pc : 4 Ag.h, 1 Pc : 6 Ag.h and 1 Pc : 8 Ag.h.

The result of the test show that the more content of cement increase strength and more cost. The use colour cement will be expensive. In the application made mortar the use cast of more will be profit of cost and times. The use mortar as the substitute of natural stone will be todecrease the mineral mining excavation in the effort of saving the enviroments. The lathe and sculpting test have also been done on this mixing with the result that is very close to the nature stone, even, the coloring action can also be done to add the artistic value.
